Random Thought Thread

those folks and us go way back. My beloved went to school with that guy. It's great gin, (I don't drink alcohol anymore but when I did I really liked the flavour) and Sherringham also does a very nice hand sanitizer. They're just across town. Well, they will have been across town...

I don’t drink often, but when I do I try and get the good stuff. Well some good stuff.

Feel free to send them my regards! I should try and get a case direct. It’s way expensive over here.

I hand load 140gr Berger Hunting VLD's over H4350 powder and Federal small rifle match primers in Lapua brass. I used to shoot long range precision rifle matches with it out of a custom built Remington 700 action.
I've had it for 5 or 6 years now and it's my favorite rifle. It will easily do 1/2 MOA or less out to 500 yards when I do my part. I shoot steel out to 1000 yards with it mostly because drawing a big game tag here is a challenge. I did take it Antelope hunting but never got a clear shot.

How do you find it for follow up if you miss your first shot? Recoil is manageable I imagine but recovery is potentially poor? Can you get it back on target fast enough to see the splash on a miss?

Tell me more please.

When I was asking around in here for a rifle, there were some comments about the 6.5 CM in this thread:

I don't know exactly when but perhaps circa 9 months ago? In any case, your search-foo is strong and any gun & ammo related questions and topic would be great to be put in the right thread just because we can go back and find it easier rather than scouring the entire sub.

ETA: maybe it was a post by Marc which I was thinking of, but yup there were some 6.5 CM related opinions IIRC.

The differences between the .260 Rem and the 6.5 Creedmore are not very large, but the long case neck of the 6.5 CM has the advantage for long-range match shooting with high BC bullets, while the .260 Rem has a bit more case capacity and if loaded to the same pressure as the 6.5 CM will be able to achieve a somewhat higher velocity with identical bullets. Since my primary use is for hunting, not match shooting, I went with the .260 Rem. Here's a brief description of the cartridge differences compared to the venerable 6.5 x 55 swede: https://www.chuckhawks.com/case_capacity_matters.html

P.S. Actually, when I bought my first .260 Rem, the 6.5 CM hadn't been invented yet, and my decision was between the .260 Rem and the 7mm-08. They are both excellent hunting rounds, but I went with the .260 Rem for the higher BC 6.5mm bulllets.

P.P.S. Here's another good article comparing the .260 Rem, the 6.5 CM, and the 6.5 x 47 Lapua: http://demigodllc.com/articles/6.5-shootout-260-6.5x47-6.5-creedmoor/

How about some paper fiat money Micarta? Has anybody ever considered making handles from some paper money? It’s actually cotton, and not money but.
I was thinking about paving my driveway with pennies, because they’re cheaper than rocks, but there are none at the bank any more.
then I started thinking about making knife handles out of printed money. Currency sorry.
I know that they’re printing it like crazy, and we’re gonna need to get rid of it somewhere.

I have to check in more often so I don't have to read so many pages to get caught up. Anyway, how about making Micarta out of shedded money? The gubmint sells shredded cash.
It doesn't really look like much. It would be nice if the numbers showed.
