^ Russia thinks this is hilarious, pitting us against each other by using our own liberties freedoms and rights against us. We helped pull down their system of government in the '80s and '90s, and they're happy to return the favor. And we're letting them.

that seems like a fair observation

Nathan, the problems which afflicts us go far beyond the evidential meddling and the pitting of one against another, foremost by the Russians (I agree with your revenge a dish best served cold parallels by the Russians):

It has now been almost 40 years that our people have been conned by the American oligarchs and the kleptocrats, through failed policies of trickle-down and laissez-fairez. Irrespective of which side people fall on the political divide line, every single person is entitled to be treated with respect and with dignity and to have a chance at upward mobility through what used to be the great equalizers in our country, when a person was not born to wealth, i.e, education and hard work (not necessarily mutually inclusive).

We are now faced with a situation that the rich are perpetually getting richer through buying the policy makers so in essence our cherished democracy has been up for sale for many, many years before the Russians, before Putin and before FB which I incidentally concur as being evil, MoFo and UI accelerant!

I agree that any meddling from Russia would be at best, accelerating something already in progress or exacerbating something already present.

If they are helping push a wedge, it was a weapon of opportunity.

It’s been quite some time since the west had a great unifying event.

In the spirit of this subforum where it is agreed by almost all that it is in bad form and bad decorum to discuss politics, I am being very careful when I opine and skirt around discussing policies.

I just happen to agree with those thinkers and alarmists (some call them losers which is just fine with me) who sound alarm bells that we are again approaching a dangerous level of wealth concentration by the very, very few who increasingly want even more and more of it to ensure that nepotism and cronyism rules the day over upward mobility and meritocracy. Study history, these things have happened before with very dire consequences.

We're not a democracy, we're a constitutional republic...

I think one of the problems with politics these days is that social media has allowed people to unwittingly put themselves into little echo chambers where their beliefs are reinforced by others with similar beliefs until people with different perspectives are just absolutely convinced that their point of view is the absolute right point of view and the other point of view, they, are wrong and are infringing upon everyone else's rights. People get so furious. It's gotten to the point where otherwise rational people can't even have meaningful conversations anymore, it just gets too ugly.
Call me a dreamer...I think boot daggers can bring us together.

I suggest for the benefit of Nathan & Jo that we refrain from any mention of political/social issues. I hear that crap all day long, and I come to this forum (& BladeForums in general) to escape the BS in the news and various forms of media. If someone wants to whine about a failed policy of the right or left, go to Whine & Cheese, and keep it out of this forum! We could not even discuss COVID-19 without it becoming political, and I guarantee the same will happen with any other discussion of current issues.

In keeping with talking about knives and CPK in particular, what's the next CPK you are hoping to buy, maybe a Boot Dagger, or maybe something more traditional like a SDFK? :)

Yeah, I feel the same way about football - now I don't watch it anymore.

I think you're right.

I agree with almost everything you said, BUT- don't go to W&C with that shit either, unless you are masochistic and enjoy being impaled, drawn and quartered and/or stretched on the rack

LOL! It's just words on a forum... it won't hurt too much.
I DARE you!:D

in other news; dog.
