Random Thought Thread

I think I remember that one. Did it have carbon fiber scales? Yeah, that one was pretty sick.
Yup, that's the one. IIRC, Tommy ended up with it after The Amazing Man decided to part with it but it could've been Seth although I recall seeing B^2 in that loop at some point too!

Are you guys trying to make me cry? :(

Yeah, that was the one. Bought it off the table at Blade. I was an "early adopter." Had some dude ship me a shiv all the way from Africa, too . . . that's a fun story.

I have a mental condition which causes me to do these stupid things.

There are probably 5-6 knives at most that I wish I still had. That is one of them.

No making myself cry again! I literally missed that one by mere few seconds :(

Passed out half way through Nathans post. Just finished. That's a lot of awesome coming.

I probably won't ask Spark to move our sub, I kind of like it where it is. It's more of a change in our business model. This affects things like accounting and distribution strategies but I think our home on Blade Forums is pretty well concrete at this point.

HDFK is kinda a elusive knife to me.
It was really first model that I saw from CPK some years ago.
I am excited that Nathan said there is a chance to bring it back. Chances that I eventually get one are very slim (let's be honest, Friday drag racing sells are not my thing), but I like the fact that the model have a chance to be revisited.

Are you adverse to the exchange?

Sorry to hear some of you have to take such strong medication. That would be pretty hard when it is ongoing..
There are some intense yet interesting experiences and stories here.

To answer above, I am soo excited for the new UF. Hoping for a pre-order and continual of stainless options. Then I will be super happy and content, no matter the wait.
I think the UF and folder will be my only purchases (across any brand) this year.

Solid lineup:
Remainder of the DEK1 (standard and swedged, Delta 3V and AEBL)
Remainder of the little Boot Dagger (20-30, sale in two weeks)
Remaining K18 swords (10-20 of them this summer)

Kephart (on machines now)
5" Utility Field Knife (bare bones value priced utility knife for Amazon distribution experiment. Material is here and being decked now)
7" Super Duty Field Knife (utility grade for Amazon distribution experiment. Material is here and will be decked next, to 1/4". This will be a "Busse level" unbreakable knife)

There will be some kind of new Utility Fighter for a new customer. The details are fuzzy but will firm up by summer.

Other projects on the white board that don't have material made yet and/or aren't solid on a schedule:
Lorien's Kukri (90% chance)
Lorien's next DEK project (90% chance)
Some kind of weapon from the twisted mind of Dr. Keffeler (50% chance)
Ninja Swords! (25%)
Axe head (25%)
folder (CPK Folding Field Knife) (90%)
folder (Mark's new folder, Delta 3V, in process now)
Integral Shiv (75%)
Three finger micro EDC (75%)
AEBL Kitchen knife (25%)
Some kind of little dagger made from the Kukri drops (10%)

Knives that are out of production that may return at some point:
HDFK
EDC2-EDC3
10" Chopper

I'm sure I've missed something, but these are the things we're currently moving on.

Edit to add:
We're currently running three tumblers, two automatic grinders and 5 machining centers (4 Mori Seiki and one Kia Mori clone). One of those is a larger 4 axis horizontal with pallet changer that replaced our smallest machine (the Romi). Our manufacturing capabilities are much larger than most people realize and we're sheading most of our non-knife related work. 2021 will be the year we transition from large semi-custom maker to small manufacturer. We were already an S corp and we've registered Carothers Performance Knives as a business entity for tax purposes. 2020 sucked for a number of reasons but I'm optimistic about 2021. I appreciate every one of you who have been a part of this journey.

Also, we're hiring, if anybody is looking....

Well crap...

Awesome line up !!!!

Ok I’ve got to ask :p Any chance with the Amazon distributed knives. That we may see some sold here with regular CPK finish ? Regular is probably or absolutely the wrong word to associate with CPK knives. So let’s say there’s the utility amazon line. Maybe a signature line offering for forum members ???

I've been thinking on this. I'm not sure, but yes probably.
