I think, in the case of the FK2, the price had been bumped from your last data point another $10. When I purchased mine recently it came out to $338 shipped, (base price of $305 plus $20 for the burlap micarta scales, plus $13 for shipping). So, your projection of where the "Basic" will be priced may be slightly off.

For sure the Kephart I received the other day was $288...($250 base price, $25 for the walnut scales, $13 shipping).

In any case, the value is there, imho...regardless of the minor differences of a few dollars this way or that. Those who get this knife in their hands should be well pleased. (I'd be an awful bean counter. LOL.)

Looks like I was only off by $1 measly dollar (at my estimated top end) and that is because I had forgotten about the shipping "bump" from $12 to $13, which incidentally is subsidized by CPK because most often those white boxes cost more than 12-13 to ship out, specially when sent by USPS Priority Mail.

Unrelated, I really really dig the blade profile on this Basic FK because it looks a more stealthy than the FK2 and very close to one of my most faved CPKs of all time, the FK aka FK1 aka OGFK. I'm sure that the belly has practical merits specially for our buddies who are hunters but I'm in for the looks and this new CPK looks sexy AF.
