Ranking of Steels in Categories based on Edge Retention cutting 5/8" rope

It's off. We all appreciate the time and effort you have put into this project, Jim!

Wow it made it in to category 1. Just makes me more excited for this south fork I have coming at62. Im gonna have a hard time giving it to the misses. Now I know you said you couldn't tell difference between s90 and cts 20cp. Would you say the same for m390 at 61?Slightly better, slightyl worse?

Don't know what hardness it is yet for sure. ;)

M390 at 62 HRC will beat S90V at 60 EASY from my testing.....

Will you be sending it for a rockwell test? I believe someone had their mule tested at 61+ somewhere here on forums.

Thanks again for the work you put it in. If this tilt ever gets finished I would love to send it to you to see how vanax 75 fairs in this test.if you aren't getting one. Its is dlc ed though. I have an early pre order with kershawguy so im somewhat confident in receiving from first batch.

That Phil Wilson knife really can't be compared to production knives at all. ;)

You will see what I mean once you get it....

It is just 52100 with a different HT....

And a different name.

I always wondered why Busse would rename perfectly good steels but after reading some of those posts I almost get it. The people can guess, and dream, and argue all they want this way. Speculating about the steels is part of the Busse experience. Same as it was with Cold steel's carbon V.

I think you just compared Busse steel to McDonald's "Secret Sauce" :D

Hello
Have you ever used any double braid Dacron rope , Nylon braid or spectra By Samson , Yale or other marine line makers ?
Thanks
Floyd

Gonna be interesting to see if the M390 Mule comes back at Rc 61. If it does, that's quite a leap in performance for a single point on the Rockwell scale, no? Or would you expect one point to make that much difference?

Yes that was a BM 710.
