Like "Ethel" or "Ester" (as in your Aunt
) but 'ESEE".
I guess we could have gone with the "Ethel Mermon Knife Co." or something real homey and apple pie?

I posted a link to said information - WADR (with all due respect)
Nothing's wrong at all that I can tell.
Maybe without qualification, but within a specific context...Murphyslaw
What exactly are you talking about? And your point is? Don't go "trolling" out on me dude. Read the article I posted the link to, it will educate & sedate you.![]()
if you'd ever go to the website you'd understand not just click on BF links... history to the Present has had a South America influence
I wasn't trolling at all. I was trying to clarify Tony's below post...
I believe that Tony was referring to the history of ESEE (f/k/a Rat Cutlery) as posted on their website. As noted by Mr. Randall in prior posts on this thread, ESEE has significant historical ties to South America.
...however, if I'm wrong, I hope Tony will correct me.
Chris
It doesn't matter Chris. No problems okay?
I wanted to figure out how South American history played out on the World history scene and it found a long article about that - not really interesting unless you're into that sort of study.
It didn't mention Randall's Adventure & Training either so I was wondering why they were talking about it like that?
I didn't mean to derail anyone's trolley...![]()
ESEE sounds all business. I'm the type to prefer how BMW names it's car models simple numbers rather than naming them after ferocious or fast animals like so many other car companies. I see ESEE knives in a similar way.
The name is just a name, its the tool that makes it what it is.
One thing will be clear in the future, everyone will know exactly what knife your talking about.
Dang and i was going to suggest you rename the Rat Pack ESEE ("easy") Company. The name is pronounced ES E (with a long E sound). Say it like you are saying two letters "S" "E", not "easy."

NOTHING IS CHANGING EXCEPT THE NAME AND LOGO.![]()
Wow. If only the skills threads generated this much controversy and drama. Seriously. Why don't I ever see 200 post long threads on water procurement or shelter building or land navigation?
If the knives were branded "Ua mau ke ea o ka 'aina i ka pono" knives (try that on for size....UMKEOKAIKPknives) I wouldn't give a damn. As Old Physics and numerous others pointed out already...a rose by any other name....
I know the old RAT forum still surfaces from time to time. The forum where Bearthedog would talk about his international travels, where skills were the forefront rather than the backdrop (if anything at all), and where people talked about what they do with their knives rather than complain about handle color choices. But it seems like it's steadily sinking beneath the surface of frivolity.
I'll be the first guy to admit that I'm not super survival man. I haven't been to ESEE, I don't live out in the woods and build survival shelters 24-7, I do get sucked into the gear-gear-gear mindset from time to time, and I don't always have the opportunity to get out and just practice skills. But I like hanging out here because there ARE people that do. And I can glean a bit of knowledge each time I visit, so that the next time I'm out, I can put it to practice and learn a thing or two by contrasting my own experience with the experience and knowledge of others. Inane whining about a rebranding runs counter to the very spirit of this forum and the people behind it.
