RAT Cutlery Announces Name Change

ok ok
i know the "rat pack" is some ways away from 1000
but cant stop thinking about the change...esp after jeff referenced the correct pronunciation

se scree-winning by a landslide

se breed-brothers and sisters different mother
you may be a half-breed if you buy other knife brands....

se melee-the fighting edge(you dont know who were are or which direction we're coming from)

se creed

wow.. i go away for a few days and this is what i come home to...:o right on, very cool guys.. i like the new name..:)

so the logo in jeffs avatar, and mine, is the new logo that will be on certain knives. gotcha.

Shon should be getting samples to me soon so we can get them up on the web site.

I've seen some of Shon's other work. Dude know what he's doing for sure.

The ESEE is growing on me.

Yikes - first post on Bladeforums but been browsing for months...Just got my RC-6 two weeks ago so this is NEWS!

And some folks never learned to say RTAK - "R" "TAK" Acronymns can be a bitch to deal with but if you look here http://www.eseeknives.com/index2.htm you will understand why we are using that name. It actually fits what we do and who we are better than RAT did, even though RAT is a cool name. We've been working this Escuela de Supervivencia thing in South America since 1997 and even had a contract with the government of Peru using part of that acronym. A name is just a name. What we do and how we came about that name is what's important to us. Actually RAT got started simply because it was an acronym of Randall's Adventure & Training, not because of the word RAT. RAT is no so over-used in the market by several companies that we are simply tired of the confusion, even though we were the first to ever use it.

thanks for that link Jeff, I hadn't heard the Education of Survival, Escape and Evasion one before. It makes me feel better not that it matters. Just the whole spanish thing kind of irked me, made me think of the whole "Press 1 for english" stuff. Totally understand where you guys are coming from. Just weird with people on the whole Made in the USA kick, thought it was weird to be proud of that when the company had a Spanish name. No offense, don't mind my rants.

if you'd ever go to the website you'd understand not just click on BF links... history to the Present has had a South America influence

Sounds like a good deal all around. Just hope to get a knife that still has RAT on it, of course I will also have to buy one with ESEE on it as well. Darn you all for making me spend more money, what with your great quality metal, and warranty, and customer service, and....:)

I guess I just don't understand this hang-up with a name. It's JUST a name. NOTHING else is changing. I guess I use my knives, so the names are pretty much worn off anyway. We just don't build safe queens.

As for the South American influence, if it wasn't for a Spanish speaking country then we would never have gotten into the knife business to start with. EVERYTHING about Randall's Adventure & Training has been influenced and guided by a Third World, Spanish speaking country. I'm proud to have those Spanish words in the name. They actually mean something to us. They're not just words like so many other companies will use because it sounds cool. There have been a LOT of dues paid behind the words in ESEE.

Jeff loves it down there ,has a survival class etc . what is wrong with that ....
and I was talking about RAT / ESEE not the link you provided

you said w/o qualification:
history to the Present has had a South America influence

I posted a link to said information - WADR (with all due respect)

Nothing's wrong at all that I can tell.

The same great products, made by the same people, with the same warranty. The name change is no big deal to me.:cool:
