Rat cutlery or Ontario?

By all means, take your own advice and "put up or shut up." Do tell.

Again, please post some examples. You wouldn't want to be accused of doing what you're saying bdws1975 is doing, right?

According to bdws1975, I already have. :)

BTW, it seems clear (see below) that he misinterpreted the post in question.

I can understand your feelings. I really am sorry for popping off at you. I should have asked questions before making statements. It's easy to do.

I think you'll find quite a few of us who are loyal to Rat. Not because of the politics, but because of their integrity.

Anyway, I've done enough damange for one day.

I will make one suggestion: don't assume the identity of the people who post here. some of us are pretty smart folks, even if we spell awefully wrong once in a while.

Spelling was never my strong suite...:)

I hear the RC6 is amazing! post pics when you get it..

take care,
Brett
RAT? Why would you think I have anything against them? That makes no sense. I've never had a run-in with anyone from RAT. In fact, I thought I had posted earlier in their support, when it sounded like there was some type of intellectual property issue between them and another company. I have seen these types of politics before and do not like them. In fact, I'm looking forward to the RC-6. I have even posted this, before. And, quite frankly, I don't care what some other company thinks of the naming convention.

So, my apologies, as well.

that this appears to have worked itself out, so I'll drop the issue, but Halbie, I do still want to hear about the the inter-company politics you experienced when doing a review of a tactical knife, as I must have missed that thread.

Regards,
3G

Go back and read the original posts. I was the one first accused of trolling.

You are not making a good case here, dude. ;)

Yeah. I'm going to :foot: now. I misunderstood your position on the issue and your interaction with bdws1975. I'm sorry.

Just so this is not a complete one side bashing of Ontario, I have to say that after owning probably 30 Ontario kniives, I have yet to see a bad one. I have used them hard and one served me for several years in Southeast Asia and never let me down. As far as I am concerned, both companies make fine knives that are well worth the money and there is ALWAYS two sides to every story. I try to stay open minded and take advantage of the best products from all companies. Guess I am strange that way. There is only one entity that can walk on water.

is that stuff still going on here? :D

LOL

If you look at the thread progression, it's like a comedy of errors, on both sides. But, it's encouraging to see that RAT has its followers. I put in an order for an RC-6 and will probably get it mid- to late-next week. Will I be a follower? Don't know yet. But, everything looks good so far. :)

I don't follow brand names. I'm a horrible customer, in that respect. But, "it's not like I can't be swept off my feet". That's what my new wife said to me a few years ago. Mission did that to me with the MPF-1. Fallkniven did it to me with the TK1. I'm thinking Canal Street might do it, as well. If RAT lives up to its reputation, they're in. :)

well, some of their followers aren't doing them service here (ME).

Glad you're willing to look past that...:)

Just jumping in here to say I own a Rat3 by Ontario and I love that knife. When I can afford an RC3 Im gonna get one of them to. From what I have learned through reading the forums, Ontario done the rat team bad. I am sorry that happend but still I love my Rat3 and I really love the Ontario Machetes. Ontario have some great knives and So does the Rat team. I hope both companies can work the differences out.

Honesty is the best thing you can say about any thing or any body. You didn't have to ante up, but you did. As a follower, you did them well. :)

fair enough. take care man,

(by the way, I did philosophy of physics/science in undergrad and grad school and it was BY FAR some of the most interesting stuff i've done. I specialized, sort of, in epistemology and phenomenology, both of which are very interested in the hard sciences. fun stuff!)

I have an Ontario RAT 3 and RAT 5. They seem to be great knives. I have no complaints and the only loyalties I have are to myself.

Cool. I actually started out in philosophy, then moved in to physics and astronomy. We had our share of frustrated mathematicians in grad school, but, fortunately, I was not one of them. I went back several years ago to get a degree in public policy, and it was my training in philosophy that made me shine. So, don't take my words too harshly. I speak from some amount of experience. :)
