RAT II in D2 ??

Does anybody know if the D2 RAT 2 will be a limited run, or full production?

Ordered two from knifeworks, haven’t seen the other vendor’s stock yet. I was hoping for an orange model, but tan and brown will do just fine!

Maybe a Knifeworks exclusive will drop at some point. I was hoping for red, orange, yellow. I already have too many knifes in green!

Ordered one for myself.

Scale swap with the orange KW one would work too, wouldn't it? I've always considered buying an orange one.

Then I need to unload one as I'll have three! Normally I don't buy dupilcates as I like to try new things. I bought the second Rat II cause it checks all the boxes I need in a knife. If they ever offer it in a higher end steel you can bet I'll be in line for another.

Just pulled the trigger on a basic black and satin blade.
I''ll watch knifeworks to see if they bring out a grey before getting a second.

I've been checking Knifecenter everyday waiting for it to show up. They have better shipping rates to Canada. Still nothing, but I'll be ordering at least one in CF as soon as it does.

Mine still hasn't shipped yet, placed my order around 8 or 9pm on the 8th. According to what they have it's marked as "in progress"

Oppps, ordered mine from Knifeworks, not Knifecenter.

Got my pair this afternoon, promptly gave one to the wife for her birthday present. I put the rat model 1 in her hand for a reference size, and then she opened the box with the model 2. When I told her the ESEE/Ontario design collaboration, she was really happy and promptly put it into her purse. I think she’s gonna like it a lot, as it’s not nearly as bulky. I’m super excited for the tougher steel, looking forward to using this every day.

I'm going to get one as an upgrade to my aus-8 versions. I really love the rat 2, and it has been a mainstay in my EDC rotation for years. The old version went dull quickly but it takes a mean edge. I have found that in my working knives, I tend to prefer a softer or semi soft steel because they tolerate more abuse. I absolutely hate having to sharpen out a chip in a blade. So I'm skeptical of Ontario's D2 because I recently had a D2 blade from another manufacturer chip out on me. And it took an hour of sharpening to get it out. I'm still very excited for this I've been watching for a long time. I plan on ordering one

My R2-D2 came in the other day couldn't be happier with it. Good fit and finish, centered and smooth.
The the more I use the Rats the more I like the blade profile on these, and D2 is the best bang for the buck steel out there.
:D

So it's been a few days, those that have the r2d2, how does the edge hold up? I haven't received mine yet. I use the AUS-8 version in my work knife rotation and it does a good job but I sharpen it a lot.

My R2-D2 just came off the sharpener yesterday, so it's only cut up a couple boxes and a sapling so far.
I've been happy with the R1-D2 for the last year, the edge has held up very well. Much better than the R2-Aus-8.

It's not that bad but it is slicker than the nylon scales.
There is enough shape to the handle I don't think it will be a problem, at least for most normal knife tasks.
I ordered the CF by mistake I wanted one black and one OD.

gonna get one of each color plus black
better gift for city dwellers(3") than the r1d2 model(3.5")
get them introduced to ontario's D2,
maybe get another knife nut infected with the buzz!
