RAT pack knife final specs

i just fail to see anything special about this knife other than the RP number, which really doesn't mean much other than you can enter into a draw. I wish there were some more customizable options with this knife, orange handle with black blade? seriously? I wouldn't pay "a tad less" for a Halloween knife. If this knife was considerably less expensive or had something that made it more exclusive then it would be more enticing.

As far as a "RAT pack knife" it would be cooler if we could just send in our knives to get them laser engraved ourselves with some bad ass exclusive RAT Pack Club crest, or even better a really wicked exclusive sheath that fits all of our existing RC-3s.

I voted for a green blade with canvas micarta scales, a glass breaker pommel.
So this knife is not exactly what I voted for, but this is a forum knife and the forum voted. Im a member of this forum and I still want a knife. I still think it will look great. On top of that look at the work the mods here are going through to do this not to mention RAT Cutlery! We are getting a knife at below retail that will look like none other! It still has a lifetime warranty!

"...with some bad ass exclusive RAT Pack Club crest" THIS STATEMENT is just ignorant (forgive my lack of empathy!) these knives will have the ESEE logo. What is more badass than that? If someone dropped your ass in the jungles of Peru could you live? Thats what this badass logo means! Few of us here could claim that skill (I cant!). Yet we are all being "allowed" to buy a knife with that very distinguishable logo.

This represents a great buy, the forum voted for this, voting on every specific. If you want one buy it, if you don't then don't buy it. Please stop whining its very unbecoming.

We were working on coming up with a RP specific logo for the knife but RAT has a few legal issues with some aspects of the theme of the stuff we were coming up with so that phase was scrapped.

After that we were working with some of the existing art, combining and changing things to get something unique. Jeff wasn't really down with us bastardizing his hard earned and copyrighted work so we decided to use the existing art.

The ESEE logo was chosen more for it's uniqueness on the 3 than for what it stands for. Not to mention it's a cool ass logo.

How is "Bad Ass Exclusive Rat Pack Club Crest" ignorant? Should I have said "Uniquely endowed heraldic device?"

The ESEE logo is a beautiful logo, but it represents something the Rat Pack is not. That logo should be reserved for individuals who actually take the RAT classes in the jungles. Those are the dudes who have earned the right to wear that Crest.

I'm not wearing the logo, it's on my knife.

By your logic, I should return my RC-5 and my firekit due to my lack of class time.

The ESEE logo was chosen because it's a badass logo and it'll look good on the RP knife. This knife has little to do with escape and evasion, this is true, but it does have to do with paying homage to what RAT and the RAT pack stands for and the ESEE logo fits in nicely with that in mind.

The logo speaks to the product not the person carrying it....think about it.....If i drive a sports car and have never raced professionally should i debadge the car....If i have a ford fx4 and have never been in baha style race should i scrape the fx4 off my truck....It is a logo on a knife ....relax....

In the end, it's up to Jeff and Mike what products carry what logo and who can buy them.

Bottom line: they approved the ESEE logo for the RAT pack knife.

Now, I have a request:

We've had a couple of things go from "How would you guys like it if we [insert proposition]?" to "There's no way in hell we're doing this." Because of nitpicking and pissing and moaning.

Think maybe we can stop pissing in Jeff's Cheerios, before we f**k ourselves out of something else?

Amen.....

I just don't understand why some people have the need to berate the fact that Rat Cutlery & Rowen are using the "Rat Pack" as an opportunity to provide us a Forum Knife. The original reason for a Forum Knife was simply to thank the loyal members of this forum for their support.

Now I'm not sure what it has become. Obviously nothing to some members. The bottom line is you don't have to purchase one if you dont want to.

While I didn't vote for the knife we are getting, I intend to get one. I understand why I am getting it. And when I do get it, I will say Thank You for the opportunity.

If for some reason anyone does not want to get their forum knife, I will gladly buy your numbered knife to beat the snot out of so I can keep mine in minty condition.

My feeling is some people here need to find out what the "Rat Pack" is. Why it became to be. What it was intended for. Obviously they dont understand.

My 247 cents worth.

Les.

Quoted for truth.

I'm sick of seeing random members pop up here just to get 25 posts so they can enter into the contests. Most of them don't contribute much to the RAT forum. I think there should be higher requirements to enter (might flush out the freeloaders) the contests. Keep the RAT Pack requirements, but change the contest reqs.

chminle is proof that a few members only see the RAT Pack as a way to try their chance at a free knife...

No, I don't get that impression. He appears to be unhappy with the forum knife offering but he is contributing elsewhere in the forum too. I think he just misunderstood the aspect of this thread. It was an announcement of the final specs of the forum knife, not a request for input. That stage is well past.

put on your big boy/girl undies and deal with whatever happens.

Ive been collecting watches for a looong time. I have been a long time member of sevearl watch collecting fora.

I have seen many MANY "design by committee" custom watch projects come and go. It rarely RARELY works. Consensus is darn near impossible. And then you get the jerks that say, "If its not this case with those hands then I am out for the group buy." Uggh. Ive always said it would be easier for one person to simply make them, and then sell them. But most folks cant do that. The great thing about this is that we have the manufacturer right here! :)

My vote is, let Jeff and crew do what they want, and if pack member choose to buy one then yippee! If it doesn't turn you on, then move a long. Easy as that.

Frankly I think the idea is pretty cool. I just cant commit till I know a price.

Agreed. He's not trolling or just looking for a handout, I just don't think he fully grasps the theory and intention with the RAT pack thing.

Aside from the logo and the handle color, there wasn't really all that much disagreement surrounding the whole thing.

I really just wanted to ensure that the maximum number of blades sold for Jeff seeing that he stated early on that Rowen was going to be making one for each RP member in sequence according to number.

That was the theory behind the voting.

well what we are getting wasnt something I would have bought on my own but the more I think about it the better I like it. I bought a black Izula and wrapped it in orange paracord and its really a cool look. So when I get the forum knife it will get placed as a combo and be added to my bugout kit.

I would also like to take the time to say "Thank You"
Starting with RAT Cutlery
Jeff
Tony
Mr SG
Mrs SG
a special thank you
to Lisa and Charlie at TwoWolves for introducing me to RAT and telling me about the forum
Dwayne and Stacy at Armoalleather
and all the wonderful members here!
Im a member at ZS and someone there sent me to two wolves (sorry I cant remember who that was) I would just like to say this is a great forum with lots of very informative and funny threads. Its a very enjoyable place!

THANK YOU ALL!

I'll take one! Even if it is an ice pick with an orange handle. Thanks again. As soon as you say we can order I'll be like a bucking horse trying to get out of a stall.
