RAT pack knife final specs

if this knife wasn't a RC forum specific knife, would you guys still buy it normally? How about a RC forum specific kydex sheath?

I most likely wouldn't seeing that I have a few RC-3s already. That said, I like the final specs on the knife and when you add in the fact that it has my personal RP number on it, It's a must have.

As for the sheath, were going with off the shelf parts in order to keep the price down and make the process as easy on Rowen and RAT as possible.

If we end up doing anything special with the sheath, it'll be optional, aftermarket, and at an added cost.

Yup. I've been holding off getting an RC-3 in order to get this knife. If there were no RP knife, I'd order an RC-3mil with orange slabs and a plain edge. The RP knife is close enough, that combined with the extra details, it is...as Shotty says...a "must have."

I'm in the same situation, I was looking at getting an RC-3MIL after picking up my RC-4. Then the forum knife was suggested and I held off on picking one up. If I had already gotten an RC-3 I think I would still pick the RPK up, it's going to be a tad less expensive with the same great quality and warranty.

i just fail to see anything special about this knife other than the RP number, which really doesn't mean much other than you can enter into a draw. I wish there were some more customizable options with this knife, orange handle with black blade? seriously? I wouldn't pay "a tad less" for a Halloween knife. If this knife was considerably less expensive or had something that made it more exclusive then it would be more enticing.

As far as a "RAT pack knife" it would be cooler if we could just send in our knives to get them laser engraved ourselves with some bad ass exclusive RAT Pack Club crest, or even better a really wicked exclusive sheath that fits all of our existing RC-3s.

chminle, I think you're not getting the point. They're trying to keep the costs down (aka not using materials/coloration's they don't currently have) for the RP members. If you don't want the knife that's your decision, no one is making you purchase it and no one will get butt hurt if you don't.

I understand what you're saying, that's not my point. I'm all about making money for Rat Cutlery as conveniently as possible, don't get me wrong. But my point is that if this knife is made for Rat Packers, yet less than 50% of Rat Packers actually buy it. What the heck makes this knife so special? The point of forum signature stuff is that you have to make everybody who is part of the RC forum want it.

I don't recall anyone saying you had to buy it.

Nor do I recall anyone saying you had to be excited about it.

To alot of us, the RAT pack means a little bit more than "you can enter to draw". I guess if you want to look past the community aspect, the homelike atmosphere of the forum and the quality people who frequent the forum....

Yea, your right, all of our hard work over the last few months was just about entering contests.

There were polls for every option that now makes up the knife design, the RAT Pack voted. Jeff said they'd sell off the remaining knives if there are a few members that can't/don't want to purchase. Needless to say, the majority of the Pack wanted a black bladed RC-3 with orange G10 handles. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it's what the majority voted.

alright, i understand. i'll let the matter rest.

No please, I'm dying to hear your ideas on how I could have pleased everyone......

Tony and myself did all in our power to make sure that everyone was heard and the choices offered didn't put undue strain on Rowen and RAT.

The vast majority voted and most of the choices were in the 75-80 percentile as far as agreement.

Sorry that the offering isn't "special" enough for you.
