Matt, you're on a roll. I like that one too. Would that be a hidden tang with a small guard? Great work!

Oops! Sorry I didn't see this until now.

I was thinking hidden tang or you do a nice framed (or is it mortised) tang handle. I guess an partially exposed tang would work too.

A nice small guard with rounded edges would be aesthetically pleasing and wouldn't get in the way too much.

Okay, here is mine.

the "Ameruukko", since it is kind of an Americanized puukko, with the full tang and handle shape. Narrow, thin blade with either a scandi or a thin sabre-convex. Also, since my main objective would be to keep the knife really light, and keep the balance close to the blade/handle junction, so a light wood like birch would help to acheive that.

I love that one!

Yeah, we have picked one, we will annouce it soon. If people don't care there are some designs that I would like to take on on my own, and I think it may be the same for Ray. We will give credit to the designer, if that doesn't hurt any feelings.

Here is a simple one (not to scale):

This is the kind of simplicity that I really like. Simplicity breeds versatility.

The blade shape is versatile enough to do everything you could ask from a knife this size. The handle should be fairly thick and shaped well for use with all grips. The handle should also be relieved at the end near the plunge line in order to allow a pinch grip for use with the chest lever cutting method. The tang could also be drilled liberally under the handle slabs to lighten the knife. The guard should be small and unobtrusive or it can be deleted.

Something like this would be at home with a camper, bushcrafter, or hunter.

Ray and I picked this one as the winner. It flows along the lines of Ray's style and we are confident we can get this one DONE! :D However, there are some other designs in this thread that will be built, Stay tuned!
