Mike, take a break man, nothing WWG said in his post deserves that. All you are doing is publicly hurting your own image, in my opinion.

Hi Mike,

You missed my point to Talon. He initially said I "Bad mouthed" Loveless in order to sell a Herron. My point was I recommended the Herron for two reasons.

First, George has not had a helper, assistant, full partner for 25 years, he actually built every knife that came out of his shop. Unlike Loveless, this is now confirmed by you.

Second, George did not routinely treat customers as idiots and talk down to them at knife shows.

This is not to say that Lovless knives (or whoever builds them) are not quality knives that sought around the world. Although, I think most people believe that Bob has built all of his knives.

Mike do you think it is deceptive that Bob does not include his full partner's name on the knives he builds? You go to great lengths to let people know of your Loveless connection. Shouldn't Bob do the same thing with Jim?

How do you think it would affect the collectibility of Loveless knives if the knives for the last 10 years had both names on the knife? I suspect that the knives marked only Lovless would be even more sought after. Just a guess.

As a collector, I only recently learned of the fact that the Loveless knives are not made by Bob loveless. For me this is a major turnoff. It means that "Loveless" is a brand, not a craftsman.

I suspect that one day there will be some squabbling among Loveless collectors as to who of them have knives made by Loveless as opposed to in his shop.

Damn... I am a younger guy, a collector by no means, and my whole knife loving life I have thought highly of Bob Loveless and his knives. I had no idea he didnt make them himself until visiting this particular discussion...:(

It's kind of like a popular singer onstage, lip synching to the real singer behind the curtain.

bummer.

William S. Burroughs said that "A paranoid is someone who knows a little of what's going on, a psychopath is someone who just found out what's going on."

There's no Easter Bunny or Santa Clause, either, and SOME knifemakers actually have their parts made in China.

It was a fairly recent discovery for me as well.

"As long as the Tooth Fairy exists, my reality is unshattered."

That pretty much defines what mostly is going on here in an overall sense.
Its a hobby, enjoy it but do not confuse your fantasy existanses on line with reality. try not to condem others for trying to give you a reality check now and then, we mean well, your loss not ours we are out there doing what most read books about and go to movies.
Loveless and the rest of the icons and knife gods, regulr guys, machinists, artists, marketing guys, craftsmen, drop outs, characters and a few dedicated to the art and science, but guys, they make knives, most guys here are making a religion out of a tool excercise.
Now discuss amoungst yourselves.
We try to guide and advise you, the rest is up to you.

Sorry I haven't chimed in sooner, but I had to take my dinosaur in for a tune up. :p ;) :D

This is a pretty pathetic thread, IMHO. Real Deal needs to go away, for real.

Getting to ya huh, knew you guys would cave quickly, the confussed ones always do, its a shame really, i suspect you have potential that you just will never realize.
Its o.k., plenty more that will rise up.

Real Dud,

Bob Terzuola could not remember your name, and certainly confirmed that no one refers to him as "Terz".

He says you are some kind of oil guy. Like in "Syriana"?

See, Les was not blowing smoke when he said we were good guys, and serious collectors. You are not "getting" to us, you ARE annoying us, and you can't spell for crap, which makes it hard to read your posts. What will happen is that every one will put you on "IGNORE", and you will be blathering to the crickets.

Collecting custom knives means a lot to many of us, that is why we come here. A current Loveless drop point knife sells for about $5,000. That is serious coin. Subjects like this are considered reasonable to get worked up over.

Go play in traffic with a blindfold on.:grumpy:

I've known it ever since the days that it was S.R. Johnson doing what Jim is doing now. That was many, many years ago.

An interesting collectible surfaced a few years ago (although Im sure the hard core Loveless people knew about this long before).

Steve Johnson used to work in Loveless's shop and made knives there. Eventually there were some knives marked Loveless-Johnson. Those created quite the "buzz" among collectors.

Along the lines of Ron Lake and Michale Walker collaborating on I think 6 folders.

STeve,

Bob Terzuola does know Real Deal very well.

As well Real Deal does have a world of experience buying, collecting and Using knives.

It would be great if he would demonstrate some of that knowledge and experience - such contributions would no doubt be valued. To this point, he has really been quite odd. And getting odderer with every post. :)

WWG,

I never said that Bob dissavowed knowledge of the guy, he just didn't seem to be his best friend, and again, said that nobody calls him "Terz", which seems like a dumb nickname for Robert Terzuola, anyway.

No one seems to doubt Real Dud's bonafides as far as buying, collecting or using. He doesn't allow us to doubt that he is an asshat, either. Usually, new posters make themselves well known as people, and personalities before they start crapping in the punchbowl as it were.

WWG, I have known some REALLY dangerous people in my time. Some are in prison, some are dead, and some are in the Sandbox. In general, these guys were/are the quietest ones in the group.

Best Regards,
