Received BCCI 30th Anniversary Buck 110 Today

I really like that 110 with the screw together construction and ironwood scales. Simply perfect. I might be in the minority, but I think a regular production knife like that would be a thing to be desired (C&C and SK are you listening?).

I completely agree. Only recommendation would be to offer better blade steel.

When I saw the renderings of these knives, I was not very impressed with them. BUT, now, after seeing the photos in real life, I had to order them. The Tuxedo 110 is so much better live than the photos on the BCCI! That ironwood is just gorgeous. Even the Volt looks great! Hopefully, I will get the ones that I ordered.

yes Sir. I got to agree with ya. I wasnt impressed by the bcci pics, but the screwed construction I was. so I wanted them for that. once I saw them in the metal I was wowed.

You are all a bunch of enablers!
I just went ahead and ordered the ironwood 110 thanks to all of the awesome pictures in this thread. Coupled with the Buck Traditional forum knife, my knife budget just went into the red.
(My wife is gonna kill me.....)

LOL. Well...hopefully the knives arrive in time so you can defend yourself. :D

The construction details are as follows: 1) The blade pivot consists of a nonmagnetic T-nut with an octagonal head. The pivot screw is also non-magnetic and has a #10 TORX recess. There is no bushing for the handles to squeeze, so when you tighten the pivot screw, the blade gets squeezed by the handles. When you find the sweet spot for the pivot adjustment, blue Loctite is in order to maintain the adjustment. 2) The T-nuts that secure the spring holder are slabbed and go into D shaped holes in the spring holder. The screws that anchor the spring holder appear to #2X56TPI with a #6 TORX recess. These screws are the same as the 6 that anchor the handle slabs. 3) The rocker pivot is a rivet which does not come out. The 2 Aluminum castings are permanently attached to each other by this rivet. 4) The handle attachment screws are anchored in threaded brass inserts which are pressed into the Aluminum. 5) If you wanted to attach a lanyard anchor to this knife, you would have to add #2X56TPI Helicoils to the right hand scale and use #5X40TPI screws to pull it together. 6) Blade changing is now a snap. 7) Be sure your rocker is positioned like the one in photo #5 before reassembly.

I knew it wouldn't be long before someone took one of these apart. It is a really cool looking knife to begin with but that Damascus blade puts it over the top.
Very nice.

thank you Sir for the pics and details. very appreciated.

I’m still waiting for mine to arrive. I’ve been drooling over the pictures I’ve seen here and on the BCCI Facebook page. Keeping my fingers crossed once mine arrives it will have ironwood with grain like Tiguy’s he fitted with that feather Damascus blade. That’s a very handsome knife.

Very nice.
That Damascus blade was borrowed from another knife.

I really had not considered you could change the blade out with any other 110 blade..We really need a 112 like this with 2 or 3 optional blades to change as the mood suits you. I can see the BCCI offering that kind of package! Drop point and a clip and I'd pay $50.00 extra for a Damascus blade. We never did get a selector in the 112 size..Anybody else want one?

Your obsessed:) That feather Damascus has a Very cool pattern.

Idk if the screw together 110 was Bucks idea or Bcci.

I think we're going to see replaceable scales today for the 110.

That will be awesome, please take some photos if they are offered so we can see what they came up with.

For fun, here is an old thread about 334Dave's rubber gripped passaround 110. In post #1 changeable scales are talked about and Joe H even added some thoughts on the idea by post #6. This is an old archived thread "please read and don't respond in the old thread, we hate zombies".

Bucksway I think you are on to something.Extra blades drop point, and Damascus in clip and droppoint. Hey what about different scales that you could just change yourself with out modifying the knife.
That screw together construction opens up a lot of options

I dunno... maybe I’m lazy, but I’d rather pick up a different knife for the day than go through the hassle of changing blades.

The Selector is good because you don’t need any tools. To have to get out a T6 and take the screw out is too much trouble. Since there’s no bushing in these blades, you have to make the screw “just right” every time you change the blade. And if you’re going to change it frequently you won’t want to use any thread locker.

As cool as this knife is; I think it’s less practical and more novel.

That being said; I do have a black DLC coated S30V blade that’s been waiting for something like this to come along.

If you leave a little blue Loctite on the pivot screw, it will pretty much stay put. You may be interested to know that all the old Selector blades will fit in this knife. The correct tool for the pivot screw is a #10 TORX bit.
