Received BCCI 30th Anniversary Buck 110 Today

Tin Sue that really is a fantastic custom! Is that Mastodon ivory? To me knives like that and the 110 BCCI club knife are in a separate category of users ..A good comparison would be a show car that's not a daily driver but could be used to pick up groceries if needed. The BCCI has a long history of creating matching 110 and 112's .I'd love to see it with this unusual 110.

I think what you ment to say Don is to upgrade a fix or repair daily (Ford) to a Chevy!

Some of us just don't like all plastic style knives. I never cared for the Bucklite of the Selector's for that reason. However, take the Selector pivit out and put it into a solid stadard frame of a 110 or 112 and I love it. EEE, had some beautiful customs built just like the one Tin showed.

JB

I have made Selectors out of Titanium and other metal handled knives including brass and wood. This blade is a BuckCote TiAlN model (92 HRC). A regular blade pivot bushing can be modified into a Selector bushing.

If you want a knife with interchangeable blades, go with Mt Pokt suggestion get a selector and all 7 blades and save some money and can use it and abuse it? I don't understand buying a special knife and wanting to change it into something that may be already available or something completely different than what you bought? I guess I'm old fashioned...

It'll be like buying a Chevy and upgrading it to a Ford... :D:D:p:cool:

One of the reasons for dropping Selector blades into premium handles is the variety of blade shapes that are available. You have your hawk bills, Buffalo skinners, drop points, gut hooks, clips, and saw. Most available as plain edge or partly serrated.

Tiguy, that is the Tiain coating at 92 hc, not the blade steel. They would have used a 420 blade for that coating? DM

I know, I'm goofing around a bit... Everyone likes doing something different...Ha!Ha!

I was also referring to the new selector 550... I think the handles that Makael has are from an open season folder?

I should mention that the blades that are coated with ceramics by Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) make excellent finishing steels for uncoated steel blades.

Tiguy, I have a skinner blade with the 2 line stamping. No model number or date code, just the stamp. Sort of odd for a 1993
blade. Thanks, DM

Is it a Selector blade? Is it the Buffalo skinner or the gut hook? See post 84 above.

Two things: 1) These knives were made for the Buck Collector’s Club, so the club was selling the knives and the handles to raise money for the club. 2) These handles will only fit the 30 yr. Reunion 110’s.
Thanks for the info. I am a member of BCCI and have ordered the club 110. My comment was in reference to them being in the BCCI website.

The blade in the orange Selector handle is a Selector blade. I call it the Buffalo skinner.

They told me I bought the last Ironwood model sold over the table. The “Ivory” model may still be available. I don’t know what the prospects are for future issues.

Wow this is awesome. I would love a screw together 110. Nothing wrong with the old design, but that's one update it deserves.

The construction details are as follows: 1) The blade pivot consists of a nonmagnetic T-nut with an octagonal head. The pivot screw is also non-magnetic and has a #10 TORX recess. There is no bushing for the handles to squeeze, so when you tighten the pivot screw, the blade gets squeezed by the handles. When you find the sweet spot for the pivot adjustment, blue Loctite is in order to maintain the adjustment. 2) The T-nuts that secure the spring holder are slabbed and go into D shaped holes in the spring holder. The screws that anchor the spring holder appear to #2X56TPI with a #6 TORX recess. These screws are the same as the 6 that anchor the handle slabs. 3) The rocker pivot is a rivet which does not come out. The 2 Aluminum castings are permanently attached to each other by this rivet. 4) The handle attachment screws are anchored in threaded brass inserts which are pressed into the Aluminum. 5) If you wanted to attach a lanyard anchor to this knife, you would have to add #5X40TPI Helicoils to the right hand scale and use #5X40TPI screws to pull it together. 6) Blade changing is now a snap. 7) Be sure your rocker is positioned like the one in photo #5 before reassembly.
I am amending 5). You can attach a lanyard anchor (with round holes) using 2 #2X56TPI screw sets. The barrels are 1/8” in diameter.
