I de-assisted mine tonight, but rather than just remove the torsion bar I took it all the way apart and cleaned the washers and re-lubricated with Nano-Oil and it flips like a dream now. I like it much better this way.

What is this nano oil and where might I procure some?

It's just a very good lubricant, I have had very good luck with. If you Google it you will find the website where you can order it online, I believe you can also get it on the largest online retailer named after a river in South America. It can also be used in firearms.

Thanks for tossing the 1554 in the pic. Is that a regular in your fridge? I need to go pick some up and try it for myself. Fat Tire gang has some decent brews.

I find that using the flipper de assisted certainly isn't like pushing a button. I'm still learning it's "language" and get it to flip pretty much most of the time. And the thumb studs work 100%, so I figure I've got it covered.

The only flipper I own that'll flip like pushing a button is my Spydie Southard, that thing just fires.

De-assisted isn't has good as what I was hoping, detent is good but it does take a slight movement in your wrist to get it to open with authority. 2ac my domino is that way, you just touch it and it shoots out with ease.

I'll play with it some more but it reminds me of de-assisting a 350 in its behavior when the bar is out. Thumb studs work with the bar out great, I just wish I liked thumb studs. I will keep it out as I prefer the better control of opening and closing with one hand.

Somebody said they wish they would make a run with kvt system, I would agree completely.

I must be lucky as mine takes no wrist to deploy. I actually like the feel if this knife more than my ZT's with kvt. Feels like my xm18 did

The 1554 is very good, there was a rep from New Belgium giving out samples at my local Muni. They call it a black ale but it is really a Lager (the have to call it an ale due to some weird law in Texas about beers with over a 5% ABV). For a dark beer it is very light. Sorry for the off topic post, but is it ever bad to talk about beer???

Back on topic, the 566 was tuned for assisted opening so it may not be fair to expect it to flip like the Southard or Domino that had their detente developed for manual opening. Just a thought... Like I said, mine is very smooth and opens with little or no wrist flick.

WOW, I guess I need to put some kind of oil or lube, but I hate the pocket fuzz it draws and just have to clean it every month. Post another vid up on how you deploy it and let us see how smooth it is. Would that be possible?

Yea, it was designed to be an assisted knife, and no it is not fair to compare it to a domino or southard. If the flipper button was just a tad larger I think you would get more leverage on it and it would open better.

ETA: I am right handed and just tried flipping it open left handed and BOOM right out consistently, am I really a south paw?

Got mine in yesterday. Ordered last Friday. I wasn't going to purchase this knife, I was going to wait for the (hopefully) blackwash version, but I saw this on goinggear and bought it. I feel bad for those that pre-ordered these months ago and are still waiting, but once they get theirs, everything will be ok. This knife is great!

This is immediately going in my pocket. It's the perfect size for EDC for me.

PC87, I don't have a video to share, but do have a couple of pointers. I'm not sure how you've been trying it, but you can't just swipe the flipper as if it was assisted. Instead, try preloading it, so to speak. I start by pushing down and slightly foreword first, continued with back pressure to the flipper. I can get it to fire pretty solid this way. It's going to take a bit of practice, as seems to be the case deploying every different knife.

thanks, that works much better. I also found that keeping pressure off the lock bar when deploying via the flipper seems to help me out, that domino I have been carrying for the last 3 months has really messed me up. LOL

I got mine yesterday. First impression: feels heavy for the size but very solid. The detent had a wiggle to it. Perfect centering. After removing torsion bar it was really bad. Felt gritty and slow.
After taking it apart, removing heavy grease and G10 particles stuck to it, polishing washers and adjusting detent it was 3 times better. After applying lubricant I can flip and flick it right and left handed.
Surprisingly its slimmer than 0350 with the same blade stock /.122/. The G10 side is thicker than lock side. All together its .435 thick.
It looks less impressive than 0560 or 0550 but will fit EDC role much better. It is also more handy than 0350.

In general I really like it but they should have make it lighter.

*Looking for dry lubricant for my knives. Any recommendations?

Yeah I am going to do a follow up video on my youtube channel. I will post a link here.

I just saw several hundred of these getting laser etched today. There should be some more out there soon. No idea who will be getting them though.

As for the wrist flick, its not needed if...well, it isn't needed.

Iceman put this vid up a few days ago. Skip to the 6 minute mark.

Got mine in the mail today, and de-assisted it a few hours ago.

Mine performs just like Iceman's without the assist. Very consistent firing if I "pre-load" a bit (as I do with most flippers). I have not yet gone in and polished the washers or lubed them - which will add to the performance, and it's pretty nice as is. Not a ball bearing flipper (IKBS or KVT type) smooth, but pretty darn nice.

Thanks ice, good vid. Using the very end of the flipper works well, I was trying to use the whole flipper tab and it just wasn't working good. Load up the tip of the tab and works every time. It is also loosening up and becoming smoother. Definitely do another vid later after you put your edge on it and tell us how easy or hard it is to sharpen.
