Received today: ZT 0566

I have two of these and one was smoother than the other , but upon playing with the tighter one it has smoothed out much better , just takes some time.
Its luck of the draw on what you get it seems.

It takes time.
After 3 weeks of continuous useage mine has become butterly smooth flipper using either flipper or thumb stud.

Waiting till January for a ZT 0566. Due to the price I'm getting I don't mind waiting. I also have the Para Military and I feel the blade to handle ratio is poor in design. God luck with your ZT.

I don't understand?

I believe he is saying he would rather have a clean blade without thumb studs. In other words he would rather ZT utilized an internal stop pin rather than using thumb studs as a blade stop. This is just a guess of course.

I just got one of these. Took out the torsion bar and it is very smooth. Flips better then hinderers I've had in the past. Very happy with it

Got mine last Tuesday and it's been in my pocket ever since. At first the Frame lock was too tight for my taste, but then I removed the pocket clip and now the lock works exactly as I expect it to.

Love this knife! It has replaced my ZT 0350TS as my primary EDC.

So are you carrying it without a pocket clip?

The only thing I don't like about mine is the pocket clip. Mounted for tip-down carry, the clip actually extends forward of the scales, which I've never had on a knife. Don't like that, although it puts the knife REALLY deep in the pocket, to the point if you didn't recognize the logo, you'd probably never guess what it is. Anyway, mounted for tip-up carry (my preferred for this size knife), the clip was putting so much pressure on the lock bar that it was making the knife open sluggishly. I had to tweak the clip, several times, tweak it back tighter a couple of times, before I got the right amount of tension so that it holds the knife in the pocket well, but doesn't put so much pressure on the lock-bar/blade. Between getting the clip tension just right, and all the flipping to check it, and just use it, it now opens quite smoothly, and I like it a LOT. Just took some tuning. No tuning required on the blade itself. Centers well, locks up tight, etc. All around a great knife, although in my case, I'd prefer to just have a standard clip instead of the deep carry. Just not really my thing. Don't like the deep carry on any of my knives.

I like my 566. It is sort of a big little knife because it is pretty stout and heavy, but definitely mid-sized. I have yet to do any real cutting with mine, I wonder how it compares to my Skyline or Dragonfly as a pencil sharpener?

Perfect knife for those of us that love the 560/1 but think it is just to big! All of my 566's, which are de-assisted, are perfectly smooth using the flipper.

Can't wait for the different variants of this knife, hopefully different blade steel.

Nothing seems to kick the 566 out of my pocket, it is the perfect size and really works well for my daily cutting tasks.

I try to carry my PM2 but I end up with the 566 in pocket and pm2 in the truck.

Thanks KAI for one awesome knife!

Please bring some variants for us knife nuts once you catch up to demand on this awesome knife.

I agree with the original poster, the factory edge was not that impressive. It only took a few passes with my diamond rod to get a nice edge on my 566.

Mine came as sharp as or sharper than any knife I've ever bought. It's scary sharp... still... after carrying it (and using it... lightly) for a couple weeks.

I guess Kai is slipping a bit. I bought a Thermite that was not so sharp, just like my 566. A recent Skyline was like straight razor.

When i can find one in Canada i'll be getting one but i'm really hoping the 566 blade edge is ground thinner than the 560.
My 560 cuts ok but its grind is thicker than the blade on my 200, the 200 is an excellent slicer.
The only thing i'm not crazy about with the 200 is the recurve blade shape, hence my interest in the 560 and 566.
ZT if you are listening offering variants of the 300, 350, 200 with straight non-recurve blades would be Welcome!

A word of caution, do NOT try removing your torsion bar with the knife closed, mine went crazy and made a horrible thwack sound and bent my liner to hell. After getting it back from ZT it was fine but don't be stupid like me

Received mine as an early Christmas present. Excited to downsize from my 0561 as an EDC. :)
