Received today: ZT 0566

My 566 has a very strong detent. I've had it for almost a week now, and the first day it would not budge using the thumb studs (assisted), but with the blade protrusion/flipper it fired really well. I desisted it for a few days and then put the torsion bar back in to give it a fair chance. The lock up is very strong and the frame lock even today is still very stiff to disengage. I've been cycling it open and closed often and its smoothed out a great deal, but the frame lock is still way stronger than my brand new (just arrived today) 550. I'm wondering if its an attribute of the stainless frame lock over that of a titanium??? Either way, this is a great knife in the perfect size and form factor for EDC use.

Those aren't really thumb studs, they are blade stops.

I'll add another positive vote for the 566. Picked mine up this week and really like it. It is my first ZT as I have always felt they were to large for carrying in my pocket. After all of the positive reviews on here I decided to give it a try and picked it up from cutleryshoppe.com. I am very impressed. This is my first assisted knife and I am not sure if I like the assist or not, but will give it time to win me over before pulling the bar out.

Hopefully ZT will release a run of the 566 that is not assisted with some different features for us guys who are knife nuts. Most of the knife buyers will like the assist feature which is their target market, but they did listen to us nuts and the knife will function without the torsion bar. Personally I just dont get the assisted feature, I like to control my opening for the situation I am in, with an assisted knife you cant do this. Keep in mind IMO, we, the knife nuts are the 1% er's.

This is one of the sharpest production knives I've received...from any company. It's a laser!

If anybody needs one. Monkey edge has some in stock. I ordered mine this afternoon and it shipped today

This is hands down the best knife I have carried in 10 yrs. I have put it to the test on several different occasions and it has performed above my expectations.

Thanks KAI and Hinderer for putting this knife in production!

I just received mine.

It's the 3rd ZT i've acquired. (560, 801 and now the 566)

I really like this knife.

First flipper that really "flips"

Just the right size, weight. Feels great in the hand and is sharp enough.

My favorite ZT (the 801 was favorite before).

Elmax is fine.

Wow, sorry guys, but the "60 sec rule" sometimes confuses my computer and it shows my post twice.

Guess thats one way to tally the posts.

Sorry

I got mine from a local dealer last month and it hasn't left my side since. Great blade to handle length ratio and I love the blade shape which reminds me of my Mini Ritter Grip. I've no intentions of de-assisting it. Awesome knife IMO.

I love mine. Just got it yesterday

It's ALMOST everything I wanted in a zt. Locks up solid, very stiff with the assist so I took it out and it's smooth (ish) just requires a slight wrist flick

Now if only they'll make a Ti version with 3D machining and bearings, it'd be perfect. But I think it's great, just needs to break in some

I couldnt agree more ............
Titanium version would be great too
I have two of these and one was smoother than the other , but upon playing with the tighter one it has smoothed out much better , just takes some time.
Its luck of the draw on what you get it seems.

Going to pick up another soon for a back-up. It is, IMO, the perfect EDC.
Hope they produce some other variants of this knife.

Got mine Today too.
Was so stiff that I could not flip it out without stripping the skin off my finger.

So I took the spring out and tried that for a while and had no luck there at all.

I put the spring back in and it is an entirely different knife now somehow!

Screwing around with the pivot screw seems to have tweaked it for me and now it flips like my Thermite does but in a ZT way.

I am sold.

And thanks Kershaw Guy too!

Hope to pick mine up today. Ordered from Kershawguy, and it was delivered to the PO on the 10th. Unfortunately, I had to leave town unexpectedly, and just got back. I really hope it wasn't delivered requiring signature.
