Received today: ZT 0566

Gosh, the 566 doesn't look that much smaller than a 560. I am going to have to pick up another 561!:D

It is much smaller. The picture is deceiving. Here is a better shot that I took.

Yep. I removed the clip and attached a pen lanyard to the lanyard hole instead.

This one:

I really like deep carry pocket clips, but I prefer them to be on the opposite side to the one with the locking mechanism.

I would be tempted to do the same, or just carry it down in my pocket, bu for two things: (1) I would be afraid that, being loose in my pocket, it would get in a position where it would accidentally open; (2) with it being open backed with standoffs, things in my pocket would get in the knife and mess up the edge. Although, it generally is clipped in a pocket that only has a Vic Soldier and a REAL pen. More I think about it, the more I'm tempted to try...

I do not believe (after having mine for a month now) that you have to worry about the blade "accidently" opening.

It is assisted but takes a conserted effort to open the knife.

You do know that you can move the pocket to either side, right?

Oh, really? And here I was wondering what the holes on the other side are for...

No, seriously, while removing the clip I damaged one of the screws badly. And so I had to come up with another solution.

ZT will mail you free parts, just ask them. Clips, screws, stand offs, etc.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I may try it. If it doesn't lay in the bottom of my pocket like a brick, it would probably clean up the opening even more.

This is true. I've had to do it.

I just got my 0566 today and it is a really neat knife.
It caught me off guard cause I was expecting it to be a 0550 with a flipper.

The knife is thinner blade and body wise compared to the 0550 and lighter too.
I have a 0560 too but this knife is still more like a cousin to the 0550 than a 0560's little brother.

The assist fires very good but I think I am gonna try it without the torsion bar for a while.
Overall this is a great knife, excellent steel, superb fit and finish, and a comfortable frame lock design.
To top it off I got it off GP for 121 shipped.
Benchmade take note.

I got mine from GPK too. When I rang it up, Justin, the son of the founder, told me about BM's new pricing policy. I told him that if BM sticks to that policy, I may already bought my last BM, especially when I can get killer ZT's on sale!

Yeah, I don't know what BM is smoking, but it has some good reality-altering properties.

Yeah, I think I've bought my last BM, too. It seems they are hanging a mighty big hat on that one axis-lock peg. 'Cause when they do start putting together a package like the 566, the cost is just stoopid.

I just ordered one from gp myself, they have the best price by far of any site I've looked at, and I've been cruising the buy/sell section constantly. Seems like people who buy these generally don't sell them.

Been wanting one of these but I'm going to wait till they bring out a LE with a different blade steel. 0566cbcf maybe?

Man, the 0566 sure is sweet looking.

Im trying not to look at it, because I'm so damn happy with my BM 940 and mini ritter grip but I can't stand the temptation :D

Just wondering, what's wrong with elmax?

Nothing, some just like options

Scored a 566 yesterday and must say I like it much more then my 0561 (love it too). Fits my mit perfect. Night and day to the big bro. Grind was a lil off but Ill live with that. Forgot it was assisted and was pretty happy with the changeup  Sweet knife. Already caught the clip on a wall corner and bent the crap out of it, doh :D

Nothing, there was a bunch of people on YouTube harping on Elmax but ZT has 'fixed' the problem now. I felt like my 0566's edge retention was poor and after I sent it in for warranty due to other problems it came back sharpened again and it seems to have gone away. I guess there is some truth maybe to Elmax seeming to 'get better' after sharpening it a few times and removing some metal :)

I just got mine today! I have a couple comparison pictures between it and my 350. Biggest difference is it's skinnier and sits in the pocket deeper. Carrying my 350 was definitely noticeable, the 566 disappears. Seems like the blade will be easier to sharpen, but I've only had it for about an hour so I have barely used it. Anyway, here's the pictures:
