I think the RED acronym is more modern. I don’t remember hearing it before the supporting troops but not the war debate, and the yellow ribbons thank you for your service campaign to avoid another Vietnam.Nice thread, Jon. As to you and your family's service - BZ from a retired AF dude.
(I'd never heard of the RED acronym, but I'm from a previous generation of mil and was the one usually deployed... old Cold War/ Gulf War peep.)
It's been fun reading through this thread and seeing peoples red-handled cutters.
I have only a handful red knives (other than SAKs), I can post one a week for a little while then repeats. First one is the old red SAK Camper I bought when I started as a flight engineer to replace the crappy AF issued MC1. This thing banged around in my flight suit knife pocket for a bit over 16 years. For giggles, patches from my most unique and least "AF" assignment.

Hahaha, ah the memories of the poll threads

My dad is a Cold War/desert storm vet too, Navy submariner.
I love the patches. Both my dad and I collect ones from our careers
I think they’re awesome! This week, my RED ALOX Cadet. The Cadets have become my most-carried SAK over the last 4 years. Also have stock silver, black, blue, and green.

The Cadet is sitting amongst patches of the various Major Commands/ Agencies to which I was assigned. Missing is the first Air Training Command patch from my second assignment. Most of my 20 were spent in Military Airlift Command, which latter changed into Air Mobility Command. C-130s were transferred to Air Combat Command, shortly thereafter I moved on to a Special Duty Assignment with Defense Logistics Agency, and finished my time with another Special Duty Assignment to Air Education and Training Command.
If anyone is interested in seeing Air Force command/ unit patches, I'll continue next week with patches from the various Groups and Wings under the MAJCOMs/ Agency. Otherwise I'll shift to more standard tabletop snaps.

Happy RED Friday.OldHercDude here’s a patch picture to follow in your lead. When in Bahrain patches were real popular.
