Wheres you review slacker? Im holding the frankenbecker as hostage.

I need one!

There is one for sale in the exchange. But it will take major coinage. Ultra rare. The white unicorn of beckers, only surpassed by the figment of imagination the bk8.

I frankly think this looks better on my load out than it does yours. Yep. :D Heading out, saving this spot for pictures and thoughts. Sure appreciate the chance to get my hands on one of these for some actual use. Thanks a ton clich.

Ooh that does arouse the...uh hmm, gear fondness.

Here is a quick comparison I did as far as chopping goes. I'm having to do this in installments as I find time.

I like hard use big knives..

I chose three that I carry often for a comparison to the RBK in a "twenty-five" chop test. This was a five inch hard maple branch that came down last fall, so it was softer than normal.

The contenders and a look at the thickness of each. Left to right: Ontario 12", RBK, Tram Golok, Fiddleback 12".

The results...

The winner was the Tram (no surprise here). I had to stop at 21 or chop the log in half. To be fair, this was a fresh mod on the Tram golok and it had a shaving sharp convex edge on it, but I've yet to see anything that can outchop it. The RBK could use a little touch up, but came in second despite being the least sharp of the bunch. Close behind was the Ontario with the Fiddleback finishing a distant third.

As far as comfort goes, the Fiddleback handles fit my hand the best followed by the RBK.

I'll post some more shots tomorrow.

wow, that maple is beautifully spalted. perhaps some scales are in order

Dubz, it is a Hudson Bay and I like it. It's a good all around camp knife and can usually be found somewhere around the cooking fire.

Clich, after seeing the spalting in that branch when I started chopping on it, I almost quit. I'm going to split it and save some. Also, thanks again, I've enjoyed it. I love this thing. So much so that I'm thinking some Aldo's 5160 is heading to Barlow for my next project....

:D

No problem trade thanks for trying it out. Btw feel free to sharpen it I don't care. No sense beating on timber with a big butter knife

I thought it was. They're relatively cheap too. I like that forged look as well. They say the sheath is really well made too.

I dug/cut out a stump today in my back yard. It was a bitch to get out. Anyways, I cut a slab off, and was admiring the grain in the heart wood. It's black walnut:
