Reinhardt Kukri Now Available

This is the first good wakeup I've had since my divorce. I thought I'd need a sorority for that!

Waking up to this made my day! and its still early. Pre-order placed at Tomar's.

I don't need a knife this large right now, but I have to say reading this thread and seeing so many excited Becker heads put a smile on my face. Hope you guys get your knives delivered soon, I look forward to the reviews.

I don't **need** a knife this large right now

Plue,

Please explain this strange word "need." I initially thought this word meant women's shoes and clothing but, from time to time I hear it applied to knives. Can we get a ruling on this from one of the Mods???

My recommendation is to buy a knife each time you hear the word "need" used to describe the contents of a bag the wife is carrying. Don't hide it or specify a delivery date when you know she won't be home, flaunt it and march it in the house proudly! Personally, each time I get a new knife I change into some camo and work cloths and see how my new knife looks with each outfit... If you are really into emphasizing the point, make a swish noise each time you move the knife around while you are looking in the mirror. They love that; love love love!

And remember, if you don't buy this new remarkable kukri, the terrorists win!

Got to spend some time with the man this morning......this is now in my hands....incredible knife....wow
Thanks Ethan...see you again soon.

That is awesome river tamer! We are going to need in use pictures since none of us have one yet. LOL

I just ordered mine from Dex (coyleoutdoors.com) and I am super pumped.

Will have to wait till my next trip to the USA!! Bringing back some steel :)

I'm probably in the minority here, but I feel like this one just isn't for me.

I'm sure it'll out-chop the recently retired Machax, but for heavy chopping, I have hatchets. I obviously haven't seen the new BK21 yet, but on a whole, i'm just not a "big knife" kinda guy, and feel like the BK4 would probably be a much handier tool to bring into the woods, or camping. I know Kukris are pretty popular, they're just not my taste.

Edit to add:
That's not meant to take away from the awesomeness of this blade. I really appreciate a hunk of steel that could sever a leg with a single strike. Big blades just don't have any real utility for my uses.

I think a lot of it depends on your current set up and what you already use in the woods...

Personally I'm a BK9 and BK16 kinda guy though occasionally I'll swap out the 9 for a condor village parang or pack golok or something of that nature.....I'm already invested in the 2 knife setup and sold on the idea of a smaller knife and a chopper/baton knife.

Unlike many, the 9 never really did it for me... it batons great, and chops well, but never as good as I'd hoped for....the BK21 on the other hand should bridge that gap exceptionally well and replace my 9 in most usage situations..... HOWEVER ..... keep in mind, I'm already a big chopper knife kind of guy because in my area, I just don't have the woods processing need of much more than that...IE hatchet or axe....if I plan on having to process large amounts of wood, I'll take my Silky Saw for cuts, the 9 to baton...and the 16 for the small stuff. In that environment, the 21 replaces the 9 extremely well.

I suspect you live in an area with very little deadfall and more hardwood than I have....right tool for the job, you wouldn't use a pipe wrench to change an oil filter....its all based on your personal AO and levels of comfort with usage.

I picked up mine on the way home today. It nestled in nicely with the originals.

Thanks Ethan for pointing out they were in!:D

A looooong time ago I owned a BK&T Kukri from the Blackjack era. That one was a freaking chainsaw in the woods!!! I thought of it as more of a heavy machete than a full size Kukri at first, but when you start using it, you quickly learn that it really has no downside from some of the heavier Kukri out there. The Reinhardt design seems like all the fat was trimmed off a traditional Kukri leaving only the meat :) The proto that Ethan brought out earlier this year performed like a champ! I can hardly wait to receive the new KaBar!

Obviously I'm going to buy a Reinhardt Kukri after my credit cards quit smoking from the Disco adventure AND my wife trying to keep up by buying dresses at the same time. But I'm curious, just how much better is it than the Machax? Other than obvious Beckerhead excitement at a long-awaited reintroduction, does it really out chop everything by a huge margin? I've already got a BK4, Kabar Kukri and Ontario Kukri, so I'm trying to convince myself that I'm going to survive for a month or two while I regroup.

Yup. CT. Around me the woods are filthy with hardwoods. If wood processing is in order, it's hatchet time.

Whoa! Apparently I've been under a rock as I didn't know Ethan was coming out with something this awesome. Great job!

I would say that the RBK should out chop all of those you have mentioned. It is far larger than the BK-4 and has a larger sweet spot. I have not chopped with an RBK but I have held and inspected an original RBK it is larger than I thought is would be. Here is a pic of it in hand. As you can see it dwarfs the BK-4.

Thanks for the reply Jeremy. You're right, that is larger than the BK4.............which I anticipated being larger than it was. I guess I'll keep chopping with what I got while the money rebuilds, then have an even deeper appreciation for the RBK when I get it.
