Reinhardt Teaser

Jens, I just ordrred mine yesterday, it will be here next week.......

Oh, sorry I actually just fell asleep on the couch and had a wet dream........:foot:sorry......

I stashed my BKT grey kukri with my Reinhardt and met Ethan for lunch today so he could get some pics of them together with the field test proto. Yes, they're unused (I know, that's a sin).

I suspect you'll see the "family photo" up soon. Until then here are the wretched phone pics I took of my pair.

Tradewater,

Thanks for posting that up. It happens to be about the favorite of the ones I took today with Ethan.

When Ethan said pristine, he was serious. I've noticed the HP guys always have the coolest stuff. :D

Pristine = unused, lightly fondled, lovingly preserved, ...

His comment upon seeing them was, "How the ... oh nevermind."

Very Nice!

My question is, does the new kukri have the new coating (sorta like 80 grit sand paper) or the old smooth coating?

Cant tell 100% from the picture but it sort of looks smooth? I really hope it's the old coating. :D

You'll have to explain what you mean by "old smooth coating". The old BJK/BKT knives had a smooth light grey powdercoat which is very different than the current KaBar/BKT coatings. Is that what you mean?

I'm certain that the new KaBar/BKT Reinhardt kukri won't have the BJK/BKT kukri light grey smooth powdercoat.

I'm almost certain that the new kukris will not have the "80 grit" coating.

What they will have is something Ethan or a KaBar representative will have to reveal since I only think I know, and that without high confidence.

Ka-bar switched the Becker line to a new coating about a year or so ago. It is really rough to the touch. The old Ka-bar coating is a tad blacker in color than the new and is really smooth.
Ka-bar still uses the old coating on the regular knives like the USMC and such.

So there are two different coatings that Ka-bar uses. From the pictures, that new kukri kinda looked like the smoother of the two coatings used.

Hope that makes more sense.

Ahhhhh, "old", but not 20 years ago "old". Got it.

Dunno. They probably won't use the KaBar/BKT early coating nor the current KaBar/BKT coating. I suspect something else altogether.
