I would like to share my bad experience and report the seller to BF members. I was scammed by the seller Retired01 from The Netherlands. I place an order on 4/25/2017 including 4 knives (1 Shirogoro Camo, Spyderco Captain, JD Smith and Navaja) for $1100 PayPal F&F. After the order was placed, he started responding late to me and he provided me a non-activated tracking number (CC057638909NL). I communicated for the first two weeks after payment sent and raised my concerns and once in a while he responded to me saying that was national day or WWII memorial day and blah blah blah. Fortunately I filed a claim with PayPal and PayPal closed the case in my favor. I got my money back but bad reputation and fraudulent act remains for Retired01. I have all documentations and communications to prove.

In the past 3 months I had one sell and one purchase transactions (PayPal G&S) with Retired01 and everything worked well. He started continuous conversation with me by sharing his family memories, business, and his collection photos. He was super responsive answering all questions immediately and trying to offer me his knives. If I replied late he would have thought that I am ignoring him so I was very careful to reply him on time. He also got my phone number and called me twice one time at 4:00 AM to let me know that he was traveling and that is why he didn’t ship my package.

Long story short he had got my trust and asked me PayPal F&F transaction for a discounted price. I fell in trap, I know that was my bad decision but I learned my lessons.

I also noticed he left people negative feedback and wrongfully reported other members. He is already in some members “Ignore list” according to thread that I read.

Thanks for reading my long story above and I am open to listen to your advises and recommendations.

Edit: Deleted his name.

Regards,
Danak

Because you have a couple of good experiences with someone is NO reason to do F&F. Just don't do it.
Sometimes people pay me F&F, although I prefer G&S. I feel like they are showing me trust, and I am embarrassed to ask them to resend the funds. While my business is guaranteed 100%, I prefer G&S. It's also a hell of a lot easier to send to the right address

I agree with all of you. I prefer to pay 3-4% more and to be covered. I'll never do it again. Thanks PayPal for the refund. Hope PayPal deducts the fund from Retired01's account since I don't want him to pocket my cash.

I would like to share my bad experience and report the seller to BF members. I was scammed by the seller Retired01 (Robert (Rob) Van Westerloo) from The Netherlands. I place an order on 4/25/2017 including 4 knives (1 Shirogoro Camo, Spyderco Captain, JD Smith and Navaja) for $1100 PayPal F&F. ...
I can't be the only person here who stopped reading at that point, right?

Every time I read "I paid F&F" I experience an eye-roll so dramatic it feels like I imagine it would if someone managed to surgically connect by balls directly to the nerves controlling my eye muscles, then kicked them.

EDIT: Btw, I am also one of those people who ignored him at some point. I do that because I can't always remember the scam artists. As soon as I get a whiff of sales trouble, they go on ignore.

once he said retired01 i wanted to read what crazy stuff happened this time.

people will never learn until it happens to them to use G&S only.

Last Update...He sent me an email just now insulting me an threatening me and calling me "Terrorist." This guy should be banned from BF. The email is so bad that I can't post here but if someone is interested to read I can forward it to personal email.

This guy has always been a nutcase, don't sweat it. Most of us regulars know his history. Some kind of a high powered European elitist. Netherlands I think.

@retired01 would you mind sharing you side here in addition to posting on a mod's profile for help?

Edit to add: @retired01 what action do you think should be taken for him listing your name?

He gets upset over some posting his real name yet on a previous GBU thread he started he also posted the other person's real name and did not remove it. A moderator had to go in a remove the name.

Yep, thats what made me curious to hear his response.
And keep in mind that he posted someone's name over a missing/incorrect box. The OP here was set to lose over $1000.

I first transferred $1100 F&F to his PayPal and he called me immediately and told me any number over $1000 PayPal automatically considers G&S. So he refund me $1100 and asked me to split it in two payment. So I did one payment for $500 and one for $600 both F&F. I guess this trick also didn't work for him since PayPal refunded me both amounts.

If this is true, the guy is a real turd. This is not the business model that we recommend on the Bladeforums.

Why the hell are people using friends and family to pay for an item? Is the seller your cousin? Is he a friend that needs emergency cash or are you giving him a birthday gift of cash? This kind of foolishness bewilders me still. The buyer and seller need to work this out on their own. It's getting to the point where someone is going to get a vacation from the Exchange for a while.

I don't mean to engage in victim blaming but I feel like there's been no less than 7 posts in the last month or two to the effect of "I got screwed doing an f and f sale." It's been a super common thread as of late.
