The knives that GEC made are first class all the way. The Eureka's are beautiful, especially the ones with the Catt handles. Bill contacted me a couple of years after making the Eureka's and said he had parts for 17 knives and did I want him to make them. I of course said yes. 15, 2 bladed ones and 1, single bladed one he had cocobolo to put on them. There was one that he had old Catt handles for which he made also. The 15 2 bladed ones were sold to some of the people that bought the original ones. I kept the single and the double with Catt handles. I had the all etched JBF.
Michael A Losicco on January 23, 2013: They will be marked JBF Champlin over GALVANIC on the main blade tang and deep etched on the face of the main blade will be GALVANIC. The lettering will be an older type, of course. Galvanic was an early mark used by JBF in about 1882. Stay tuned as we will have one more announcement on what will be in the package with each knife. No wiping cloths this time!!!

To have got to my relatively advanced years and to have only one genuine regret in life is I suppose a consolation of sorts...;) But it's one BIG REGRET. I had a chance to get one of these Galvanic Stags and I incomprehensibly dithered- probably had a load of expenses come in at once or new car or, or, can't recall. Waited overnight and the chance was gone! I don't like to bandy about terms like Grail Knife, but it could approximate...

Everything right about that knife Charlie, everything

A run of single blade Talon Bareheads could be sublime too (with THAT shield!)

Multiple regards, Will

JoKr JoKr Thanks for that. Mersmerizing knives and the boxes are works of art fit for these knife kings.

Regards, Will

not for that Will Power Will Power , you are very welcome.

sometimes i tend to overpay my knife limit because of the history & story behind that special knife.
and thats what i did, when i got the chance to buy that special knife!

je ne regrette rien! :D

I love these knives and was always amazed they were as easy to get as they were. I managed to obtain the full set of #50 as well as a couple of #49’s which I carried regularly and ultimately parted ways with. GEC absolutely nailed it with these knives and IMHO they are among the most nostalgic they have produced. The deep etch on the #92 is truly epic!B70086A8-FBBD-4B3B-A442-06D503DDFEEC.jpegB4716C12-3FFB-4339-9651-B7116D4D3B25.jpeg

Chances of a new collector getting a #92BE Rosewood 50 pcs. serialized – 2 pcs. no # are probably impossible. Rosewood amazing.

Happy to hear the news about new JBF Champlain’s coming out. Are any patterns announced yet?

We have a custom-made knife coming out in Dec hopefully. 15 for the first run and they will have the old Cattaraugus cocobolo covers. Hopefully every 3 months or so after that.

Thanks for the comments on the GEC knives, Mike, I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next. There are so many older pocket knives to explore. Please post the details here when you are ready.
This is really exciting news. I can’t wait to see what comes next. There are so many older pocket knife patterns that could be tried. Are you at liberty to say who the custom maker will be?

Sorry can't say at this time but after the knives are made it will become clear who the maker is!

More Eureka Stags being shown 😻 But I now need a drink...;) That shield is masterclass.

I always wanted a Forum Knife to be a Barehead Eureka/Talon Spear with Rat-Tail and that shield. The dream's there but the reality passed.

What do you think one has to pay for a rosewood 92?
Hard to say. The recent one I saw was at TSA Knives, and they tend to be more like EBAY than a dealer as far as pricing usually. I believe they had it listed at $1200. I do not know if it sold off the site or she made some other deal, but it was not there forever.

Flip side sampling of that price range would be looking at sales of a Rosewood JBF in 2019 at Arizona Customs (who are not a lowest price option either)... sold for $195 sometime after it listed on 07/24/2019

They also sold a GEC85 JBF sometime after it as listed on 1/3/22 for $295 ("Antique Walnut Jigged Bone Tear Drop Jack 2-Blade #48/50")

GECS are a funny market... you have some recent ones (all GEC are recent really... 2007 is not an antique) like a 2019 BF 86 where it could command $400-$600 just because people want one. The JBF's are actually a rare collectible by anyone's standard (in my opinion).

I totally missed these when they came out. Congratulations on getting one. The old Cattaraugus Rosewood covers look stunning. I’m pretty sure I can guess the maker of these latest JPF Champlin knives .

Thanks Travis, I was happy to get it, you would be right on the maker.
