Resurrection of JBF Champlin & Sons........

Since this discussion is about new JBF marked knives I figured I’d show some original JBF Champlin items. I posted this display in the old knife thread but here it is. Pictures in the top are original. JBF on the left and his son Tint on the right. The 2 knives are original JBF Champlin marked knives.9F44A4A2-C164-493D-B867-B01B1EF39785.jpegA197CF78-3C23-4B02-AC1B-BCE7FCB030AA.jpeg814B6A70-CB69-47D7-86F0-03AD7FBA722A.jpeg966A3AB5-CE2E-4E46-BFC8-2A66B0D57859.jpeg

Great etch on an old razor (should be circa 1865-1885 or so... which makes the handles Parkesine or the first plastic as far as I can tell from research).

The handles are red and black hard rubber, also known as ebonite. Fountain pens of the time were also made from ebonite.

The look of the knife changes so much with the addition of the shield. It's awesome. Is there a historical reason for the oval?.

Mike responded already but I will say that I find it very appropriate on a knife that is a resurrection of a very old maker, oval shields seemed to be more popular late 1800's early 1900's, an example being this early Case Bros.
