RICHARD J is down & out

Oh man that's horrible news... I was waiting to hear back from Richard this weekend as he'd left me a voicemail last weekend saying he'd taken a spill but figured he'd be fine within a week. What a hardcore guy trying to walk off an injury like that and still taking care of his customers... get well soon Richard you're the coolest!!

Just got off the phone with him! He sounds great!! Still in the hospital. He will be having surgery in a couple days and home next week! I told RJ that a lot of you guys have written on here wishing him a good outcome and recovery! He seemed very pleased to hear that you guys chimed in on here. He did want me to mention to keep sending your knives to be sharpened, might be a slight delay but they will get done! If you want the RJ edge the true believers im sure wont have a problem if it takes a few more days than his normal lightning quick turnaround! Dont go elsewhere just bc his current state. I guess he has a friend that he will be referring work to until hes back in action. I will let you guys know more if I talk to him again! Im sure RJ will do well and come back stronger than ever! I just had all my family in town for my sisters baby shower and my older sister was using my Henkel chef knife chopping some salad stuff and she said damn Adam what the hell did you do to your knives!? I laughed as I had just sent all my kitchen knives to Richard maybe 2 weeks ago. So I told her I have this buddy online that is the sharpening Guru!! So she said when she gets home shes boxing up her knives and sending them to the RJ Spa for a makeover!! My paring knife is just sickly sharp!! I cut an apple with it, just amazing what a good sharp edge can do!! Ill keep you guys and gals updated as I get info! Get better Richard!! There are dull knives out there that need a spin on the magic paper wheels!!! :)

Richard is indeed a good guy. The real thing, a true knife guy!

Get well soon, buddy. Look forward to having you back here.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Richard and I talk quite a bit but I have been in no-mans land as far as phone service for the past day or so.
I wish there was more I could do for him. He really is one of the good guys.

Hope you bounce back quickly, Richard. BF is a "dull" place without you...

(Somebody had to)

Sad to hear about this, and can only hope for a speedy recovery without any complications.

Get well soon Richard - I hope you are back at the paper wheels in record time.

best

Wow,I had no idea.I just talked with him last month & he seemed fine.Hang in there Rich. We're all pulling together for you.Get well soon!

Just talked to Richard he gave me a call from the hospital, He's in good spirits even though he's in the hospital, I told him about this thread and told him that everybody was pulling for him and praying and wishing for him to have a speedy recovery, looks like he may be out of action for awhile, I'm not gonna go into details of his condition out of respect for Richard, I dunno if he wants to keep it private or not , either way It's not my place to post it up. He was watching "wicked Tuna" on the T.v. and we were both laughing and joking at the episode he was watching as I had seen it also. I will say this Richard might be down but I don't think he's out. He may be out of action for awhile though, Richard is a good friend and even though I have never met in person He has went above and beyond for me so many times I feel like I know him personally, We live aways away from each other but I told him if he would like me to relay a message to you guys that i would, just keep him in your thoughts and prayers, even though he's in good spirits he's no where near out of the woods yet folks. I will note I didn't mention knife sharpening to him I was concerned about his condition so if striderco says he said to keep shipping them then keep shipping them, As i said we didn't discuss that at all, only his condition and I told him I wanted a custom fixed blade made by him when he feels better. He said he would make it but gave no mention of time or when he would be able to do it.

Sorry to hear about him being stuck in the hospital nursing such an injury! I've only had one dealing with him but he seems a great guy.

Prayers out for strength and recovery for him.

Bill
