Rick Hinderer sent Cease and Desist to Youtuber for saying the steel was soft in his knife?

There are three types of people here, (since I refuse to believe people will just go to bat for some nutcase in his garage slinging mud because they support him):
1. People who love Hinderer
2. People who hate Hinderer
3. People who don’t care either way

People supporting a dude with like 100-200 views on his YouTube videos against a knife making powerhouse like Hinderer just want to watch the world burn and are fueled by the drama.

“Notice me, Rick you bastard! Nooootice meeeeeeeeee in my garaaaaaage!!!”

While all the folks defending Hinderer are long-time Hinderer fanboys....
Not a fan of how either of them reacted. TK and his followers continue to screech. Hinderer dropped his legal nastygram and backed off. At this point I'm on the side of whoever acts professionally and conducts themselves with dignity online. Also, SCREW this cancel\outrage culture.

Arguably. It’s always geometry before HRC. That’s the fact.
Both are true.
All being equal, including HRC, when you go to the 61- 63 and higher HRC numbers, angle more acute than the optimal for particular steel and thickness behind the edge, will not cut longer for number of reasons.
Sounds like gobbledygook. Give me a concrete example of what you're talking about.
In this example, even being so acute as the higher HRC, lower HRC sample will retain working sharpness longer.
No it won't. I mean, unless you're saying that the blade will chip out? But in that case, the softer blade will roll, so....

I mean... that's literally proof of calibration. I don't know how far you want to move the goalposts, but since you asked how we know it's calibrated, there's your proof.

I'm not here on his behalf. No one asked me to come here. I don't have a strong connection to the guy. I like his work. Just like how you guys are doing your utmost to defend RHK with everything you can.

But hey, clearly I'm a shill with no experience with anything I'm talking about. Your arguments of "I don't believe you" and "receipts are on paper so they prove nothing" are very effective and clear. I'm glad to have spent time with such an intelligent group of people here. I'm sure daddy ricky appreciates your services.

Is it? Because multiple people (who have a lot more credibility here than you do) say it's not that simple. Therefore, no, I'm not moving any goalposts, as I have already stated that I don't believe that a dude in his garage has the experience, or expert authority to be calling out someone who has made a successful business in selling good knives. Also, and man, I'm trying not to laugh as I type this, if you think this is our "utmost", man, you might want to head back to your safe space over on Reddit.

Certificate, receipt, apologies. He shows that. In mine line of work it's called a calibration receipt.
Ok. I think I'm missing alot since I can only find a couple TK videos on YouTube and I'm not on FB or IG.
Just wondering why the focus of the C&D letter was on claims of out of spec hardness readings and in TK's post he said he didn't care about his readings and that the blade may actually be in spec.

He's not bashing Hinderer. 😂

He doesn't like M390 run at 59-61, regardless of who the manufacturer is. Apparently Hinderer thinks that calls for legal action.
You need to learn how to read if we are going to continue this conversation. TK clearly didn’t act professionally and unbiased when he inserted his opinions on the price of Hinderers in relation to his “discovery”… but I think most people here know by now you traverse this forum playing devil’s advocate on pretty much every controversial topic. At least I gave that up after a while.

That's not true at all...
I got my Lefty XM18 just this past year...
What disappoints me is the criticism over RHK trying to defend his products.

Remember, when you're a massive global conglomerate who employs thousands of people like RHK, the little guy is automatically "The Good Guy" in the movie. Big giant megacorporation = Bad, little dude trying to drum up business for his reblades on IG = Hero of the story

If you tell someone that the way they make a product is "wrong", because you think you know better (and parrot this to your idiot IG fanboy crew), that is most definitely bashing.

Too bad they’re too dense to see that Hinderer is only a few steps above garage level, as is Emerson and others… but these people circle the wagons like they’re taking on Wal-Mart or Amazon.

Oh get out of here. TK is hardly the first person to express the opinion that Hinderer knives are overpriced.

And? What does that mean? If you aren't making a lot of money, a hundred dollar knife might be considered "overpriced". RHK's knives are right in line with the market for what they are, same as CRKs, high end Spydercos, and many others. Someone saying the knives are overpriced, gotta be honest, sounds like someone who needs to spend less time on IG, and more time trying to secure the bag. 🤷‍♂️
