A couple weeks ago Rick posted a couple knives that he had made using a "new" metal that was workable like Micarta. I have always admired Rick's craftsmanship and when you see a knife made by him, without knowing Rick made it, it is easy to spot with his signature grinds and the materials he uses....top notch. Though I'm not a knife maker, I appreciate the work and skills that go into a custom made knife and I commented that the "new" metal handles didn't "do it" for me. The knives are awesome as they were made by Rick.
I got a PM from him saying he appreciated my honesty and he told me that while he normally doesn't take orders, he would make a knife for me. I was elated and thanked him for reaching out to me. I picked out a Curved Gunstock single blade knife that has vintage like brown Micarta and an acid washed blade.
He sent me some WIP pictures that I would like to share with you guys.
First a little info on this pattern in Rick's word's on how this knife and pattern came about.
"The Bent gun stock is a pattern Tony (Bose) came up with 30 years ago. It was not based on a vintage knife. This pattern is right off his, other than that, I have changed the blade just a little." - Rick
