Rick Menefee Knives...

Wow, everything I would have asked and more.
Blade thickness less .010
Weld not braze bolsters
Do not understand bushing?
Surface grinder has magnetic plate?
Milling liner profile
Flat plate jig index

Thank you!

Gary

Rick,

Purpose of the matches ... do they ignite during heat treat to burn off the oxygen thereby reducing oxidation? Does grinding the blade after heat treat induce a possibility of tempering the blade (reducing the hardness)?
John with modern steel makes no difference. Simple steel without a doubt.
154cm temper at 925 degrees. You get a little brown color about 300. Every pass dip it in soapy water and keep at it. After getting catra test and many Rc test. I grind nothing until heat treat is over. I have found after you grind with a 50 grit then 120 a blade builds stress. I temper one more time total of 3 after the 120 grit belt. You can tell the difference when you sharpen the blade. Ever notice how one knife will just get scary while its seems the other never does. I think its stress in the grain.

Also the Matches burn the Oxygen in the envelope. Which help against oxidation.

Had to play a little Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Nice catch men. I had no idea striped bass migrate in salt and fresh water. I would have guessed that picture was taken off of Cape Cod.

I got me a bent gunstock off of Rick. Great knife. I went camping for a week and only used it. Had a pile of Menefees with me, but I liked using it. -Izzy

That is a couple of really nice stripers Rick - almost as big as Primble's fish !! ;):D:D:D

Great knives and great fish - what more could a guy ask for ? ;):D

Mark - I thought you were a Spartan fan !!?? :confused::confused::confused::rolleyes::D

Oh boy.....here we go again. :rolleyes: Rick, Primble has big fish stories :eek::confused::D

Stories !!! :eek::eek::o:o:o:D

I got my fishing boat back in the water and to the marina today.

Two huge fish jumped in my boat and nearly knocked my soup bone out of my hand (as I was admiring it) and it almost went in the drink !! :o:o:o

I guess they were scared and decided to give up. I wasn't even going to fish, but, they made a nice dinner tonight. ;):D

Thanks for the work in progress pics !!!

Don what did that big one weigh? Don point your yoda sw and drive. Shad started spawning in the rocks 11:00 a.m. Sunday. Next week could be epic.

Would love to come down there and fish, but with the Reelfoot trip & Blade show coming up, it's goin to be very hard to get away. Will see though. Thanks man!
