I have never, ever had a BAD experience trading and or selling something, until NOW!! Rick Shotliff/RShotl bought some knives I had for sale. And I shipped them. He agreed to pay me $90. I shipped them somewhere on Feb. 16-18th. I HAVE NOT received my money. I have comfirmed with him via a phone call, that he did receive my knives. I have also told him on numerous occasions, that I have NOT received my money. At first in an E-mail he stated he had family issues, and was out of town. OK, I totally understand that, NO PROBLEM. Last time i talked to him, which was a couple of day ago, he stated that he sent my money last Thurs., and if I didn't get it on Mon. I should tell him. Well, I did NOT get my money on Mon. And I called him, I have yet to hear back.I keep feeling like it is one excuse after another!! I have been MORE than patient, and now I am upset!! I was counting on this money, as I am unemployed.I sent him an E-mail tonight informing him that I am pissed, and have been more than patient, and would be posting HERE, tonight!! I have never had an issue selling or trading before, especially with folks here. And I HAVE dealt with newbies before too. I want my money!! At this point, I feel that THIS is my ONLY option!!   PS: If I get my money, I assure you, I WILL post that as well!!

TKC,How did it come to pass, that you shipped the knives, prior to payment? I'm bewildered.

You sent the knives before you received payment?

I hate to say this, but I have serious doubts you'll ever have any correspondence with your buyer again. I hope for your sake that I'm wrong though.

Yes, I always do. They tell me that they are shipping the money, and then I send the items. This has always worked, up until NOW. I guess I am too trusting. Yeah, I have that feeling too. The money wouldn't be such a big deal, but I NEED it right now.

She is an honorable and trusting person(NOT a bad thing)...NOT to much to ask that those within our community (and MOST ALL do!) handle it the same. I've done the same on occassion also, and depending on how/where this transaction may have originated its not unheard of. hang in :-) Sorry this happened. HOPE all works out for the best.

Loandr.

I have shipped many times prior to getting payment as long as the person appears to be in good standing here.

Hopefully I too will not end up like the knife collector but........................

TKC,I admire your "trustworthyness"(?) and I know you're one of the good girls......,but please learn a lesson here!!!
It's only reasonable (and people will still like you) that you send the goods after you received the money!!!
Lately,it seems that a lot of wrong and dis-honest people find their way to the honorable knife-community.....,they should not get a chance to even set foot in this place!!!

This being said........,I hope that Rick Shotliff/RShotl shows some character and stops with the BS and just sends you what's rightfully yours!

Good luck with this situation,TKC!!!

i send stuff all the time prior to getting payment and will continue to do so, if at all possible anyway, never a problem knock on wood, has to be a forum regular though, sometimes require payment up front if its a newbie, but i hate to do that, its a 2 way street, why should i send $$ and not have the knife/why send knife without $$, so ya gotta work on trust imho. been doing it that way for almost 5 yrs now, like i say so far no problems, amazed my wife that folks were sending $$, knives, etc prior to rec'ving funds....and no one was getting ripped off. sadly things seem to be changing some, and not for the better either i might add, though imho the vast majority of folks on BF, and 100% of the "old crew" (except for art of course.....) are scrupulously honest.

hope ya get your $$ knifecollector.

Thanks guys!! Next time, and from now on, I will get my money, then ship out the items!! This isn't going to happen twice!! I hope i get my money too.

<Shakes head> I hate to say it gentlemen but I expect eventually we will see a thread here from all of you that ship before receiving payment.

Possibly, but I have to disagree. I have sent knives to other forumites before I recieved payment, but only to people I have dealt with before or who I knew were long-time forum members with lots of positive feedback. This dick-head RShotl has a total of 2 months on BF and 9 posts, with not a single positive feedback post in TGB&U. I wouldn't have even done a trade with this low-life unless he was willing to send his first and let me have a look before I sent mine.

TheKnifeCollector, I'm sorry you got ripped off.

It sounds like you have thought this through and with that strategy I would think that you might be okay.

I have had a few people actually send me their knives for an inspection period before I pay. If I didn't want it I just shipped them back and covered their shipping. Of course I have a decent rep here so that makes a difference. When I had no history here dealing with others this would not have happened. I hate seeing stuff like this. It hurts the whole process we have going here. I truly hope things work out for the good.

I ship both money and knives before others all the time. God help someone that tries to screw me. It is all about principle.
Randy

The only listing for a Shotliff in Chesterland, Ohio, is Stanley, at 7450 Paddock, 440-729-1755. Is this your shipping address, TKC?

Were the knives mailed and, if so, did the buyer know in advance that you were mailing the goods?

Well said, Randy !

Dealing with a noob is a chance that we take. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I've looked at all of RShotl's posts ( 9 ~ and all in the "Exchange" portion of BFC ). I wouldn't have dealt with him.

I hope that you get what you're due, TheKnifeCollector !

That really sucks, TKC! I hope you get your money! Is it possible to get the law involved? Do you have any proof (emails) that he agreed to pay you the money? If that jackass lived in central NY, I'd gladly pay him a visit!
