Ride of teh Snarkeries

Got a helluva snow storm last night that dropped 11-14 inches in this area from late evening til morning. The funeral for my boss's wife was supposed to be today, but ended up being postponed until tomorrow so everyone could travel safely. I can't imagine what it would be like to think you were burying your wife and then you have to postpone it. I think I would be going crazy.

Yo, Snarklings.

Nice knifey stuff goin' on here!

grrr...
cross forum grumble - skip if you want.
I picked up a home-built double layer hammock a few months back with built in skeeter netting, whoopie slings, ridge-line, etc... for a decent price. hung it on the front porch and tried it out - and came to the quick realization it was made for someone shorter than me.
There was a visiting Canadian airman down this way and he was interested -- but didn't decide so until after he was back home.
So i shipped it to him to try out -- he liked it and wanted to buy. all is well and good.
We had an agreed on price. He was happy, I was happy.
3 weeks and no $$$ - so I dropped him a line.
he said he had a knife he'd be willing to trade me but I would owe him $$ difference -- I said no but gave him a list of things I would be interested in.
a week later i get a PM -- how much did we agree on and what's your PP account?
I replied same day.
3 weeks later I send HIM a PM asking if he lost my address again -- he apologizes and promises to get the $$ sent ASAP.
another week goes by and nada -- today i get another PM: he took it camping over the weekend and decided he doesn't like it that well after all, amazingly enough the things I originally said I was not totally keen on with the thing due to it not being long enough for a person over 5' 10" or so now bother him -- what's my shipping address.

so now, 2 full months after I had the first "$$ is heading your way this week" PM, supposedly he will be boxing the hammock back up and sending it back. Wonder if it'll show in time for the gathering?

Got these in today. Totally make the BK16 100% better IMO. Well worth the wait. I'll post up some better pictures in the daylight tomorrow. With the micarta and mrn8's liners my handles are nice and fat now---just the way I like 'em :D

i would charge him a rental fee. esp if there is damage.

good luck, you can probably sell it fast.

Damn Vik. Sorry to hear about that. I can assure that not all Canadians are as unscrupulous as that guys. Again, sorry to hear about these hassles.

Gus - I'm well aware not all soldiers, Canadians, bushcrafters, hammock hangers, etc... are like that -- I just picked the wrong person to try and deal with. I just hope he doesn't pass this code of ethics to his kids.

If he had told me 2 months ago he wanted to use it for a weekend and it might be a month or 2 before he had the chance, I'd have been OK with things -- but he said "I'll take it" and then 2 months of excuses before "I changed my mind" -- and that's annoying.

Thats beyond annoying. Thats downright rude and inconsiderate. That, to me, deserves a mention in that forum's GBU/feedback area.

It will - once I get my hammock back.

oh, yeah - psy -- road trip on the 29th, not the 15th -- he wasn't sure they'd be done by the 15th.

nope - you have 2 extra weeks to get your knife ready.
no word on the tractor yet.

We need to find a tractor to take with us. Got to be prepared.
