Ritter MK1 in CPM M4

What makes the blade of poor fit and finish? Mine and any iv seen pics of are perfect !!! Please post picures of this so called poorly made blades!

The photo that you posted here and other photos that I have seen show that many of the M4 RSKs don't have tips that are properly sharp. This is my main issue with the knives.

I don't know about others, but mine is problems-free. In fact I like the knife (especially the very nice coating!) so much that I place an order for another one.

Mine as well.

Returned from loonnggg trips ... there it was. And it is good!:)

I got tired of waiting and cancelled mine so one more large should be available. I'm going to get a large orange handled on in S30v.

thank you, because i took it apart and was going by a takedown of a full sized grip, which have one at the back and one at the front, and i only had one, and there were two holes, but the one at the rear was where the scales clipped in

I sent back Large #4 for blunt tip work and centering. Small #220 went back for centering. Glad I am working with BM, as I am 100% certain they will come back perfect. 1st time I have had to send one back out of well over 100purchased new. Didnt notice till I read about other tips being this way.

i cancelled mine, benchmade really let them down.

them having to hand check benchmade's new factory knives is inexcusable. especially a semi-custom job where you would imagine benchmade would be more vigilant for mistakes.

for those that are happy with them, thats awesome! i was looking forward to using M4 for the first time, but i guess not anymore

I also had to send mine back for a blunt tip. Eric inspected the new knife before he mailed it out to me.

If you end up with a good knife who cares? As I mentioned both of mine were near perfect. But if they weren't Benchmade has a great warranty department and I know it would be fixed. I'm not going to shoot myself in the foot and skip something I want just because there were a few ones a little off.

The reason there were some a little off is probably because they were rushed to get done. As much complaining on here about them being delayed I know they had to have got emails and phone calls about when they were going to be done. The same thing happened with the M4 710. What places need to do is have a knife commissioned and when it gets finished and is shipping then start letting people know about it, especially when it is a popular model.

still don't know if i will receive my large, the status of my order just changed from "backordered" to "ready for printing" today... they havent answered my mails yet ...

as anyone ordered a large after 04/29 and received it ???

Boy, I agree with you 110%. I'm sure that the pressure to "deliver" has caused a lot of grief over the years, for designers, manufacturers and consumers alike.

I'd rather "not know" about it until it's ready or project a longer deadline and surprise us!

My second large shipped today. I ordered it a few weeks back and apparently the second batch was just finished. It was kind of ironic (and hella expensive) though because I got too shipping confirmation emails today. One for the M4 Ritter and one for the Kershaw Volt! Ya thats right I got one!.... And I ordered it a week and a half ago. So much for the whole "sold out" thing.

I hope this comes across as it is intended - discussion not argument....

I really lay this at Benchmade's door and think they need to think hard about what they're doing. They need to think hard about doing two things. First, they need to be honest with their vendors, who are valuable commercial relationships, about timing. That done, when a date is agreed, they need to keep it. Finally, regardless of what happens with the first two points, they need to ship nothing but first quality goods. Remember the old ad slogan "the quality goes in before the name goes on"? People soon forget late delivery, but they long remember poor quality. :(

ok i got mine today, eric is a great guy to deal with, the blade looks and feels great , very sharp but the handle feels weak imho i will pimp this one asap.:D

Ideally they would all ship on time and be perfect. But if something happens that slows them up (I don't know if it happened but say the DLC contractor was slow or just bad scheduling) and they are being hounded to get the knives shipped then little things will be missed. So should they turn the phone off and ship them 6 months late or have a few knives ship that are a little off? I don't know the answer but I can see how it can happen even if it is wrong. But they do have a great warranty department so if there is a problem it will get fixed, it will just be a disappointment initially and a hassle. It is also hard to say how many knives actually had a problem. It could have been a dozen or a hundred? We usually hear about the problems and the good ones are rarely talked about. Anyways, I'm not sure I have a point just rambling really. I still think it would probably be best to keep these limited runs 'secret' until they are nearing completion. If it is a good knife it will sell regardless of how much hype they get on a forum like this and not letting the public know could save a lot of people headaches.

It may feel weak but it is tough as nails. FRN can have that plain jane plastic feeling but it is a very durable material. Out of who knows how many thousands and thousands of Grips sold and the hundreds of threads like this one on forums, I have never read about a handle failure.

i just got mine in today.. grind looks good.. has a sharp point.. blade is centered

only issue i have is it's very hard to open the blade. idk if the axis lock is sticking somewhere or not. u can't just flick it open

and u can see scratch marks underneather the DLC coating idk if this is normal but i know my zt 300 isn't like this.

Adjust the pivot tension to where you want it and use something (loctite, nail polish, teflon tape) to hold it there.

You mean the grind marks when you say 'scratch' marks? The grind lines look exactly like any other Griptilian I have had. It just has a black color instead of a silver color. I don't see how this could be a problem and is just how the metal is finished.

And if the blade is difficult to open then loosen the pivot screw as mentioned, just like any other folding knife out there.
