Rocketed into outer Snark

Coyotes, Feral Hogs, Pit Vipers and Skunks are the varmints on my "Shoot on Sight" list.

Coyotes because rather than sticking to their "natural prey", they also like to pick on calves, goats, dogs and cats.

well, given that man didn't ask coyote when we moved into his territory... coyote's natural prey is ... all those things :D and more.

so, if you let your cat run wild at night? om nom nom nom. or your dog? yeah. only fair.

course, morally, we have to draw the line on children of humans, and so forth... farmer's seem to think they have special dispensation or something. weird :D so what we should do is feed children to cows :D

Feral hogs because they destroy crops (I couldn't care less about their destruction of people's yards.)

well, someone stupidly imported them, then let them get lose, and we should exterminate every single last one of them imho :D i mean, the importers. also the pigs. national bbq day. every 20 hogs you kill, get's you a discount on taxes :D

Skunks because something like 80% or more of them in central Texas are either carriers of rabies or actively infected with rabies.

now now now, all mammals can be carriers. skunks are just one of those. 80%? that seems kinda high, as you are excluding politicians and hippies. shit, 10% of the people reading this have rabies. also ebola.

Pit Vipers (rattlesnakes and copperheads) because I hate the damn venomous things. I dislike, hate, detest, and abhor ALL snakes, but only rattlers and copperheads are on my kill list. The others eat bugs and rodents, so they earn their parole. Water moccasins are pit vipers as well, but they get a pass because I don't mess with their territory and they don't come into mine.

territory. y'all people invaded their homes. course, i can't abide animals IN my house, but outside? they own that. worst part about finding snakes? there's something they are eating, or they would NOT be there. attend to your mice and rats and such. they'll leave. guaranteed.

I guess you could say that Anacondas, Pythons and Boa constrictors are also on the list. Haven't seen any around here, but if I ever do, boot factory, here they come.

that shit isn't native, so kill it, and eat it :D

New SNARK is flying like a rocket into outer snark. ;)
In on four like a dirty old spore.

Oh... SO you're a rapper... I bet you like girls with big butts and all.......

Nevermind that... I like girls with big butts too :p :D

Big butts, big boobs, pretty faces, tight bodies, sexy legs, hmmm.... I think that covers it... unless I've been drinking then it's a much longer list. Possibly to have even included a running car so I didn't have to sleep in the parking lot again - on a few occasions. Mmmm the "good old days".:D

Trick or treating was fun with the kiddos

Cleavage is proven to improve circulation

Ill shoot any varmint that messed with my garbage or property (and I live in a city)

Its snowing outside....s**t :(

That's what you get for not moving to Texas! :p No snow here but it is a rather chilly 42°F.

had a cider-tasting with lots of homemade halloween-themed food at a friends how last night. and silly games. Good times.

My cat kept the small rodents under control, so presumably the snakes too? Have seldom seen snakes up here anyway, and even then usually just a garter.

Lots of skunks and 'coons dead on the roads this year, tho. many many.

Not so many coons around here, but the amount of skunks has been crazy. I've never seen the skunk population so high.

We had a lady in our rout that was giving full size candybars, even to the parents. This cartoon was exactly what popped into my head...lol

Mornin' folks.
First order of business this morning..... Get in on this, especially if you've been longing for a Magua.

Yesterday was a crazy day at work, but I scored floor seats to the Pacers game from the boss. The wife and I went out for Halloween dressed as basketball fans. They lost, but it was a lot of fun. I haven't been to a basketball game in a long time.

I'm hoping everyone had a better Halloween than we did. It was cold, we got very few trick or treaters, and we've got way too much candy leftover.

On the upside though, the little slime capsules I made to give out with the candy were some of the biggest treats received. The kids even wanted it more than the candy, and even took some to give to other kids, or were running up and down the neighborhood yelling "SLIME!" in excitement.

During the summer pig hunting (can't wait to get home next week to get back out), we saw riduculous numbers of both 'coons and skunks. The 'coons were always in a tree at distance. The skunks seemed to always be closer... Had one that was actually moving towards us at a brisk pace and we were about to shoot it in self defense. Thankfully it veered off when we put a spotlight on it. Didn't want to test effects of shooting a skunk at close range.

1) Nope - dogs kept inside at night, but coyotes have been observed digging under or going over fences even in daylight. No cats.

2) Farmers/ranchers are just protecting their livelihood and EVERYONE ELSE's food. Either we do it or you go vegan. Me, I like meat.

3) The "importers" were Europeans of Spanish/French/English/Portuguese descent who brought them over as food (read BACON and ham). Yes, the pigs escaped, but no pigs??? No BACON.

4) 27 rabies cases in Bell County, Texas in 2013 were skunks. Also, 2 bats and 1 dog. Yes, rabies can infect any mammal. Certain species, skunks and bats, seem to maintain an endemic population segment that are carriers capable of spreading the disease even when not actively dieing of it.

5) I currently have out 19 rodent traps, keep mouse and rat bait deployed in all out buildings, and leave all non-venomous serpents alone to help keep the rodent population and therefore the serpent population in check. However, 1 copperhead or rattlesnake envenomation WILL result in a $20,000+ hospital bill and/or death. Yes, die from a rattlesnake bite and your heirs still get a bill. A 10 cent to 50 cent bullet is a LOT cheaper.

6) kill, yes. eat, no, only if in a "eat or die" situation. :D

I just got back from the funeral about an hour ago, overall it was nice ceremony, sad, but nice. He was buried with full military honors, which was really special.

In happier news, got an 11 with an azwelke sheath off the exchange recently, now I know why you guys like it so much

It snowed in the mountains last night, so we went up to look around. Pretty.

Nice way to spend a lazy morning :)

I like havin' coyotes around. 'Course I don't have cattle or small dogs. The cats around this neighborhood I can only hope they dispatch. Surprisingly here in the northeast, the coyotes are a LOT bigger than the ones out west....the NH Dept. of Wildlife says:
Eastern coyotes typically weigh 30-50 pounds and are 48-60 inches long, approximately twice the size of their close relative, the western coyote. Eastern coyotes have long legs, thick fur, a pointy snout, a drooping bushy black-tipped tail and range in color from a silvery gray to a grizzled, brownish red. The average life span of a wild coyote is four years. Though coyotes are often mistaken for a domestic dog hybrid, recent genetic research has attributed the eastern coyote's larger size and unique behavioral characteristics to interbreeding with Eastern Canadian wolves (C. lupus lycaon). Unlike the wolf or domestic dog, coyotes run with their tail pointing down.
Also not seen is the "pack hunting" that people are always claiming:
Territories range in size from 5-25 square miles and are usually shared by a mated pair and occasionally their offspring. Coyotes mark and defend their territories against other unrelated coyotes and sometimes against other canid species. Coyotes are capable of many distinct vocalizations - the yipping of youngsters, barks to indicate a threat, long howls used to bring pack members together, and group yip-howls issued when pack members reunite.
No mention of eating livestock, danger to people or dogs larger than cats. Cats do get eaten.....Seems to be a LOT of misunderstanding about them. I'd have a hard time believing that western coyotes, which typically don't top 30 lbs., could do any damage to mature livestock - unless you're raising rabbits. Anyway, we had one run through our yard a few years ago and she was beautiful....but when I told some neighbors and friends that we'd seen one, the response was like "I HATE coyotes! The EAT BABIES!!!" Seriously? There's a pit bull in our neighborhood that is more dangerous to humans and dogs - it escaped once and tore a new a-hole in a friend of ours' Newfie, yet wasn't put down - and still, so much misinformation persists. Domestic dogs kill 186 people a year; deer another 120 people a year - for real; car collisions - because (I'm agreeing with Bladite here!) humans have moved in, killed all the animals that used to prey on deer and then basically started feeding them while making it safe for them to have lots of fawns....of course, this is merely my opinion (except for the deer thing, that's fact....). Coyotes? People always hatin' and looking for a scapegoat, IMO.
