Hey Woody, what is that red ring looking thing you got on the last page anyway?

TZ Tunk Knuck.... Its a 1 finger "knuckle"

There is a huge following for 1 and 2 finger knucks on FB... they sell like crazy. There is even a knuckle addict group.

I never been into them myself... But was curious how well the 1 finger knucks actually worked so my buddy had one sent to me to play with and find out how effective it is.

Punching the wall with that knuck was a bad idea... Just saying.

I did put grooves into the wall... But it hurt like hell.

I also tried it on my reflex bag... Didnt hurt as bad as the wall but still hurt and wasnt as effective as a bare fist either. I always use bare fists on the reflex bag, doesnt hurt. Starts to feel tender on the 4th set of 50.. But doesnt hurt. With the knuck it hurts with each hit and i cant direct the bag as well as i can with bare fists.

Unfortunately i have been in lots of fights and completely understand how much a punch to a head can hurt a hand. Hell i had to have my hand cast up for a while because of an improper punch/punches.... But these are NOT the answer. To hit someone with enough force to cause damage is certain to hurt your hand worse than a properly placed punch and im not sure these would cause more damage than a well aimed fist either.

Im sure some of the metal ones would do more damage, and maybe some of the full 4 finger knucks would support your hand better.. But in a real situation i would give this to my opponent and go with my fists LOL

I agree... they're good way to break a couple fingers or worse. But people buy 'em up like hotcakes. I've long felt you'd be better off with just a roll of dimes or nickles in your fist, if you really feel you need the extra "oomph". Not as hard to explain to LEO and other people, either.

Then again, it's been a long time since I punched anyone in the skull, so what do I know... :p

WW, JT - I agree 100%. I've even tried out the 4 finger brass knuckles. But they are most effective when striking with a hammer first motion. If I was going somewhere that I expected to need that kind of help I'd probably just stay home, or take a railroad spike.

LOL, i once tried a roll of quarters and quickly wished i used a roll of dimes instead :D

There are some nice looking 1 and 2 finger knucks that id like to own just to own if they were free LMAO... Id never use them as they arent practical, but just for looks they are neat. If treated like custom beads or similar and just used for looks and kept as knick-knacks or picture props i can understand that a little...Some have amazing engravings and such and really look great.... But when people carry them as a self defense tool i question that logic.

I've actually never had to punch anyone in anger during my 52 years on the planet. I was always tall, and at my current 6'2", 260+ pounds, people don't seem interested in picking a fight. I did do some boxing in the basement of a friend during some of our less "formal" Boy Scout patrol meetings... I do recall that 20 oz gloves tire you out pretty fast.

JT is correct about the potential LEO issue. Knuckles are illegal here in Texas, but lots of folks buy the metal ones sold as "paperweights" at gun shows. It's one of those things that doesn't get enforced unless you've drawn attention to yourself in some other manner. Then the LEO tacks on the extra charge for bonus credit, plus it gives them more leverage in negotiating a plea bargain. It does seem like there are many better choices if you are going to carry a "weapon," and even the improvised items like the roll of coins ("I'm headed to the laundromat.") would be better choices.

I like rk's "just stay home" idea best :p

But now I do want to make some rings just for fun... mmmmmm Elmax...

Id much prefer to have a kubotan or good self defense pen. Used right a kubotan can cause a lot of damage without hurting you. Self defense pens can be used similar to kubotans and dont get looked at as harshly and are likely legal everywhere (i dont know for sure just seems like they would be)

I can't recall who to attribute this to, but I once read:

You can avoid most trouble by not doing stupid things with stupid people in stupid places.

In other news, I did go to Texas Roadhouse earlier and got my free lunch. I usually get a ribeye, but that's not on the "free" menu, so I got a chicken fried sirloin. The thing was as big as my head! Got half of it down along with a Caesar salad and half a sweet potato. Didn't take a picture before eating, so at this point it would violate Daizee's rule of internet food photography. After eating, went grocery shopping and picked up some St. Louis style ribs that I dry rubbed and have been cooking at 250 degrees for the last two hours. Two more hours and they should be perfect.

My wife has been boiling a few chicken carcases since yesterday evening. We're having some chicken stew tonight :D

In a progress report...it seems to still be smouldering haha (in an inclosed fire bowl). Time to pee on it!

drink a 5th of vodka first. that should light it up and solidify your lead.

I don't know if I can even drink that much anymore :( Last time I drank in excess I remembered why I prefer partaking in other forms of relaxation. Don't get me wrong, every once and a while its good to get properly sloshed ;) but I'm getting too old for that (and I'm not even that old). I blame my kids for making me a more responsible adult!

I went to go visit my grandmother today. 91 years old and she took a tumble :( looks pretty beat up. Has a broken finger and some pretty nasty racoon eyes going on. :thumbdn: She seemed to perk up pretty good when playing with my little guy tho :) My parents are staying with her for a while till she feels better.
