Will the tweeners share sheaths? I could see the 16/17 sharing but how about the 15?

They sure will. I got Psyop to build me a sheath and it fits all three nicely. Probably a little long for the 16 and the 17 and the 15 uses all the length but it works fine on all three. When I asked Psyop to try this he wasn't sure it would work but he did a nice job making it work.

Also, I found by experimenting that the sheath for the Condor Bushcraft Basic 5" knife fits the tweeners nicely. Again, it's maybe a little long for the 16 and 17 but is a decent fit for all three tweeners.

Some years ago, my survey staff went to chain saw training. It was sponsored by Husqvarna. They taught several different methods to fell trees, including the one shown in the video, along with all kinds of safety and cutting techniques. It was a 2-3 day course. The guys really loved it.

Doc

Husqvarna and Stihl have online video of many tricks and techniques. i can't believe what is possible with a powerful saw and plunge cuts, but there you are.

i wonder if that trick in the video would work on proper hardwoods?

today, i dropped a dangerous 80 foot tree, and used a plunge cut between two rear wedges to force the center heart to release, and it worked! woot.

tree down. me not dead. good.

hey guys i'm still around had too let my paid sub go awhile care died had too go in debt again or more i should say lol!!! oh well least i'm mobile again!!

Good to see you around again tfields!
I just saw the coolest thing ever on YouTube. I have no idea how to post the video but I'll give it a shot.

Well there's the link anyway. I wonder if he is / was a machinist or welder or maybe a blacksmith. Anyway, VERY VERY COOL!!!

Was considering splurging on some new steel but most of the many blades I have are unused other than testing. So I figured my money would be better spent on some sheaths. Gonna look at out resident kydex benders for the ones I won't have to send in and I'm gonna try out a guy up in CO Springs for some stuff I've modified. If I like what he does I'll take him more stuff and that way I'm not spending a crap-ton shipping knives back and forth and avoiding the inherit dangers that come with that.

Who's your guy in Colo Springs? Pm me if you can. Email works too. rk dot moore at yahoo dot com.

Thanks Bighoss!

I think I need less knives. I went to azwelke.com and started adding stuff to my cart...$337!!! And he doesn't even have half the stuff I need.

I want 3 more knives to round out my user group! Then another 3-5 custom :D

HaHaHa!!!
I've been telling myself that for a while now (not as often as my wife has been telling me) but it hasn't slowed me down much. Maybe you just need to start bending your own kydex, making your own knives and sewing your own leather. :D
I'll bet that would get REALLY spendy fast! LOL!!!

I have what I need to mold kydex, but it has never worked out very well for whatever reason. If I had a shop I'd build a better press (or invest in a pre-made one) and all the other equipment and bother to learn. But if I had a shop, my time would be better spent learning to work on my trucks more.

Just so you know guys, my Thanksgiving Magua give away contest on my subforum closes in three days, better get on it if you haven't yet.

Went on another fossil hunt today, same place I went three weeks ago. I had a really awesome time. Found a véry interesting fossilized pine cone while strolling through the quarry. The clay we took home will have to dry a whole year before we can dissolve it and sieve it, so we'll see if there's something in there. There probably is. Always has been :). Will upload pics soon..
