Rocketed into outer Snark

I'm on my 3 1/2 wedding ring - same wife though. Had the first one stolen while I was playing a game of pickup basketball. "Lost" the 2nd one for so long in my gym bag that I actually thought it was gone. Tried a piece of copper tubing for about a week. It fit perfectly, but looked more like I was wearing copper tubing than a wedding ring. Bought a silver James Avery ring that I've managed to keep for probably close to 10 years now. (Found the 2nd ring a few after I bought the silver one.)

I've never been really big on jewelry, but was shocked at how much losing that first one bothered me. The 2nd one never had quite the same sentimentality to it. I hope to never have to find out how I feel about the current one.

Long dangling ones, iced out diamonds, or big hoops??
Trying to visualize this :D

I'm betting it started with a gold stud and evolved into an 80's hair-band-rocker-dangly-style.

HA! Started out in denial that I wasn't actually going bald (started around high school graduation, LOL) with a rat tail (and I do mean rat tail, never had enough hair for anything more) until I realized I wasn't going bald - I was ALREADY bald - and shaved my head in '94 (I was 31). I have 4 piercings now (all in my ear), and two of them are filled with diamond engagement earrings (my wife proposed). I'd have 5 (one for each decade) but the cartilage piercing (upper ear) I got for my 40th never healed up so I gave up and took it out. May have that done again, now that I know what went wrong. Maybe. I ain't young anymore, and the last one I got (about a year and a half ago) took FOREVER to heal up.

Nothing to visualize. Middle age bald guy with some earrings. My affair with hair was all too brief....though I don't miss it at all.

I got a buddy that's a general contractor, he has a ring that he wears sometimes but rather than wear it all the time he got a tattoo around his ring finger.

Granite will henceforth be known as Mr. Clean.

That is all!

Having never been married, I obviously don't have much sentiment about jewelry. If I had gotten married, I'd MIGHT have more feelings towards a wedding ring.
My only ring is my Aggie Ring from Texas A&M. I only wear it at Aggie Band reunions and for Aggie Muster.

That's mainly because I got cured of wearing rings when I was about 13-14 years old. My parents ran feed stores in central Texas from before WW2 up til 1975. I worked there weekends and summers. I think "the ring incident" happened around 1967 or 1968. After loading out a few sacks of chicken feed for a customer, he hopped of the loading dock, bracing his hand on the sideboard of his pickup. His wedding ring hung on the top end of the sideboard and his finger popped off at the knuckle, with the ring and last 2 tarsals of the finger hanging from the sideboard. Freaked me out, big time. Someone wrapped his hand and finger up and took him to the hospital (no 911 back then), They sewed it back on but it never worked well after that.

My father and every male that worked for him quit wearing their rings at work after that happened. I have never been a fan of rings because of that incident. 24 years as an EMT resulted in at least 1 call (usually 2 or 3) per year for crushed wedding rings acting like tourniquets on the patient's finger. (As an aside, now I'm wondering what happened to my cutter.)

I have seen LOTS of pictures of degloved fingers from rings. I almost didnt go with Tungsten because i read that its like the hardest metal and could be hard for an EMT or paramedic to remove in an incident.

Especially if ZZ was the EMT... He doesnt even know where his cutters are :p

:D

I had a 3rd grade gym teacher who lost a ring finger in some ring related accident (supposedly slipped off a roof and had his ring catch on a nail and rip his finger off) long before I ever got to 3rd grade, but I never forgot the missing finger.

When we went to get our wedding rings, the jeweler tried to sell me a tight one saying, "You'll never have to take it off." My response was, "If I can't take it off, I won't ever wear it" inspired by images of said teachers missing finger and some of the things I like to do where I could imagine a ring catching and causing nothing but damage.

I wear my Aggie ring a lot (not as much as the wedding ring but a lot), and have had it sized up as I have put on weight, but like my wedding ring, if it won't come off, it won't go on.

I bought a high school ring, but never really wore it. Didn't bother with a college ring (U of MO-Rolla, now named MO S&T)... I noticed during my Army years that the VAST majority of officers who wore class rings either went to West Point (so called "ring knockers") or Texas A&M. I think it's like a sign that you've joined the mafia... My daughter is an Aggie (class of '13, but graduated a semester early) and always wears her ring.

It all starts with a dream. :D

Woke up from my 2 hour nap this morning with my sinuses all jacked up and my chest feels like someone is standing on top of it. This weather is killing me. 34°F this morning. Already too cold for me.

reading Word up magazine? tell that monkey to get off your chest! lol it's 52 degrees here. it's a bit chilly considering that 95% of the year it's 100 degrees and up.

I will give you this... California weather is awesome. When I went to San Diego, it was in the low to mid 80's and everybody was complaining about how hot it was. I think the high one of those days was 86° (near the coast - it was hotter farther inland). The wife and I went to the Zoo and enjoyed the nice cool weather with absolutely no crowds thanks to the extreme heat. :D

Ya everyone runs there ac so when they go outside, its that much hotter. We don't run ac so we are all used to it. 100 degree weather doesn't really bother me at all, nor does the rain, its the cold temps that really bother me. My knees and bones hurt and the strangest thing.. I know when the cold is coming cause my knees start to ache right before.

Haha! We had snow here this am and I was taking grief at the office for wearing shorts. I haven't even broken out the winter shorts yet.

Why do I find myself agreeing with JT so often?

Because I'm right. :D

Don't answer that... :D

Oops. :o :p

Mine was custom made by a jeweler friend with two diamonds given to me by my sister that she inherited from our grandmother...

That's cool as can be, to have a family heirloom like that with you every day

But then i read that tungsten is hypoallergenic and wont cause any rashes or turning green so i decided to give it a go again. I like it. Been wearing it all day, even in the shower, and it hasnt been a problem or got uncomfortable.... And no rash. Happy with it.

Excellent! :)

Like I said before, they didn't cost big dollars... but they're priceless to us.
