And yeah... FFS, be careful with your wiggly bits. I too know a couple guys with horror stories about losing a pointy part. The ring is much stronger than your finger. Flesh fades, metal remains. The human body weakens with time; the human spirit continues to grow.

That's sort of the whole point ;)

Ya everyone runs there ac so when they go outside, its that much hotter. We don't run ac so we are all used to it. 100 degree weather doesn't really bother me at all, nor does the rain, its the cold temps that really bother me. My knees and bones hurt and the strangest thing.. I know when the cold is coming cause my knees start to ache right before.

That's the way to do it. It helps you acclimate AND it saves $.

If anyone needs a sheath for a BK2, 16 or 15 PM me, I am going to order some leather soon to make more sheaths and I need some people to test them for me.

I got me a new wedding ring today. Thats right im a baller now. You have to be in the big leagues before you fellas can afford one of these rings. Start saving your pennies.

I lost my old one a good while back and never got around to replacing it. I never been big on jewelry and normally dont wear any. But i finally got tired of people asking me why i dont wear a ring, the way some people say it is like insinuating im cheating on her or something... So i got a cheap ring. If i lose it oh well, if i decide i dont like wearing it so what. But so far its comfortable and looks nice so im happy.

Its tungsten. 8mm wide. Cost 18 bucks. They said it wouldnt scratch so i took a knife and attempted to scratch the inside of the band and.. It didnt scratch... Im happy for the price.

but it WILL shatter :>

I have seen LOTS of pictures of degloved fingers from rings. I almost didnt go with Tungsten because i read that its like the hardest metal and could be hard for an EMT or paramedic to remove in an incident.

Especially if ZZ was the EMT... He doesnt even know where his cutters are :p

:D

if the EMTs have any clue, they know how to deal with Tungsten...

vise-grips can shatter them in a controlled way, or whacking one with a hammer with a good backstop (like a curbstone) will do it

PING!

Ti can be dealt with too...

and there's the dental floss trick as well

My tungston ring has kind of an acid etch.
I work with different mortars and some of them contain a small amount of sulfuric acid.
I had the jewelry store try and buff it to no avail.
Oh well. I think it looks kinda cool.

I wear a tungsten ring, the wife and I been considering on getting matching tattoo's.

Very cool. My wife would laugh at me if i suggested ring tattoos... She only has 1 tattoo and its in a place no one, but me, ever sees it.... Hell i had to talk her into getting that one and its barely over 1 inch square.

I have LOTS of ink... but then again i dont have to worry about a job, interviews, or anything like that. Back when i worked all my ink was on my back and legs. I didnt get tattoos anywhere that could be annoying to keep covered. But i always loved tattoos so once they told me i couldnt work anymore i decided id start half sleeving my arms. still have half of my left arm to finish... I have the artwork ready to finish it up but my last tattoo artist moved and im picky with tattoo artist. Eventually ill get it finished up.

Our wedding bands... custom handmade stainless damascus with sterling silver linings.

Like I said before, they didn't cost big dollars... but they're priceless to us.

Those are badass!!

I think once im done with these little hawks and a knife for a friend i may try and make a ring.... Just for the hell of it. I have no real idea what to do... I figure ill just drill a hole large enough for a finger in thick stock steel.... then keep grinding it down until it looks like a ring.... Yea, a lathe may be better LOL but i like little projects so ill give it a shot.

Very enlightening. :D

but it WILL shatter :>

Yes it will. Hopefully NOT while its on my finger LOL

A guy on FB brought up these tungsten rings, that where i first heard about them and that they are hypoallergenic. People started takling about the dangers if you cant remove it and one guy commented that EMTs may have difficulty removing them.... SO i was hesitant to get one at first since i have been doing a bunch more with tools and stuff lately....

But then an actual EMT (supposedly anyways) came in and said they have no issues removing rings of tungsten or ceramic and they keep ring cutters..... That was enough for me to do a quick google search and see how they can even break them with vice grips. Then i ordered the ring LOL

That being said just dont let ZZ be the EMT... We all know he lost his cutters :D

Very cool bud.

Seems like Tungsten rings are pretty popular in this crowd... And here i was thinking id be called a cheapskate or something... :D

I have been in my hammock nearly all day. Coughing up some nasty crap, cant breath out my nose, head throbbing and chest feels tight as hell. Great times.

I also never take my ring off. If my hands get really cold and the ring gets loose I'll take it off and put it on my necklace (which also never comes off). Its white gold that is starting to turn yellow heh.

:D

I know exactly where the cutters are. They're in the same black leather utility pouch as my window punch, seat belt cutters, and back-up trauma scissors. :D

I just don't know which box of 38 out in the warehouse the utility pouch is currently in. :(

But since I'm retired from actively running EMS calls it doesn't matter. ;)

I bought a high school ring, but never really wore it. Didn't bother with a college ring (U of MO-Rolla, now named MO S&T)... I noticed during my Army years that the VAST majority of officers who wore class rings either went to West Point (so called "ring knockers") or Texas A&M. I think it's like a sign that you've joined the mafia... My daughter is an Aggie (class of '13, but graduated a semester early) and always wears her ring.

"If you're on the outside, you can't understand it and if you're on the inside, you can't explain it."

Not commenting just confirms my suspicions... Gig 'Em

Hey, We do NOT "drink the kool-aid" in Aggieland. There's no kool-aid in Aggieland.

But we do have BEER. Lots and Lot and Lots of BEER.

That being said just dont let ZZ be the EMT... We all know he lost his cutters :D

In addition to a ring cutter, I carried 14" and 26" bolt cutters, a hacksaw, a 16" hatchet, a 28" fire axe, pruning shears, battery powered angle grinder and battery sawzall, and a few knives.

I'll have you know that any well-trained EMT can ALWAYS figure out a way to get a ring off. :)
A good one doesn't have to cut the finger off. :D:D

Just finished getting caught up on snark.

Yesterday was my birthday, went to Texas road house for dinner and got a hand cut ribeye, it was GREAT! I then had to go back to my school to work staff on our fall play, afterwords I was able to open my presents, I got a spyderco sharp maker an let me tell you, it works, both my 14 and BM bone collector are now razor sharp. And my brother and sister got me a 15 from Dex, it is fastly becoming one of my favorite blades. I'll try and get pics up later

And I know that this has been said many time before, but I'm saying it again, Dex is a real stand up guy, when he first talked about the sale, I emailed him about them and he was willing to put one up for me until I had the money( or in Tigus case my siblings had the money :D). He is by far the best person ive ever done business with, and from now on he's going to be the one I buy from, period
