Rollin', Rollin', Rollin', Keep Them Doggies Rolling...: Ken Erickson Cattle Knife

Shockingly awesome. What a well thought out and executed knife.

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments on this knife. It is very rewarding for me to work out a new pattern(for me),spend the tedious hours hand sanding, finishing etc and have folks appreciate it all.I have said it in the past, but deserves repeating, if not for everyone here in traditional I would not be pushing my skills to this level. Thanks!

Ken

Wow!! Old-Timey, yet current!! 1000 years old, yet only 1000 minutes!!
Boggles the mind!
Nice work Ken!!
Lucky, even if Bad, Blues!!!

That's a great looking knife! The bone looks fantastic, and was exactly what I pictured when I first read the description. I don't care for the swedge much, but that's a personal preference. Enjoy it!

I learned that on my old job, Charlie. It's better to be lucky than dead. (Especially after a thousand years!!! ;))

Elliott - that's a beauty for sure! You dreamed up a winner!

And Ken turned it into reality!

That's fantastic! It really captures the stout soulfullness of the old originals. The bold-yet-understated coining on the liner is a nice touch.

Congrats, Elliott.

Rick, I discussed the coining with Elliott and while I think its a really nice touch also I had made the comment I hoped it was not too bold. All that have seen the knife in person so far says its not overly bold.

I think the coining lends a rakish, muscular quality to the overall impression of the knife. I actually said "wow!" aloud when I first saw that photo. Damn nice work, Ken.

Blues, that is a fabulous knife, congratulations! And Ken, your work continues to impress me, great job on this pattern.

Just to give an idea of what I was going for in terms of the scales, have a look at this Imperial alongside Ken's knife. You can see the lineage I was hoping to capture (and I never even sent the image to Ken.).
