Rollin', Rollin', Rollin', Keep Them Doggies Rolling...: Ken Erickson Cattle Knife

Elliott, you and Ken definitely had 5 by 5 signal strength on the scale concept.

I think you're right, Rick. By the way, I haven't heard that term in a while. Reminds me of my old Motorola days in unmarked vehicles. (Gotcha 5 by 5. How me?)

Mike Robuck said it so well...Ken did a great job of channeling my vision.

I just ogled that knife again, and it looks even better!!!

Ken, nice capture of an old soul!!
Case coined the inner liner of some of their cattle patterns during the Tested period. I've often wondered if there was a functional reason. Someone (I forget who) mentioned to me that they thought it made it less likely an errant closing blade would "catch", especially after years of wear, but I wonder how likely that explanation could be.
At any rate, it sure looks nice! Great knife!!:thumbup:

Charlie,
While doing my "research" before starting this knife I came across a post of yours that mirrored what you just posted. You do not realize how many times I reference your posts and pictures before starting a knife. Thanks for your continued contributions to this forum.

Elliott,

You should have sent me that picture, it would have made it easy on me, getting that bone to look "right" Nice old Imperial!

Elliott/Ken, another great eye poppin', jackjawed, sweetness drippin', stunner of a project!:D

Really beautiful knife with awesome steel. What an awesome combination!

You both have exquisite taste.

You're absolutely welcome!

It's amazing you get any toys, Elliott! Tsk tsk!!:p

Nice old Imperial!

The old Imperials are something else!!

Needless to say it's awesome:thumbup: This knife is truly captures the essence and soul of a vintage cattle knife with all the precision you can only find from a select few makers:thumbup:

Loads of cool things going on with that knife!

Beautiful work, Ken.

Elloitt, you lucky. . . . . :D

Muchas gracias caballeros y vaqueros!

I know the love fest in this thread is disgustingly dripping wet, but I must precipitate some myself in my post. Wow, the bone is great, just awesome. The swedges are always a good idea, and those look great. I must say, this is my first time hearing the phrase "coined liners." Some of you just now may have heard me do a goofy "Her Huck- What is that ridgid saw tooth like contraption in the center of that knife?" I scrolled back up and learned a new term- coined liner. Wow! only in a custom. I am truly envious. Mr. Erickson, you hit a homerun. Blues- I am sure you are walking on cloud knife.
Merry Christmas to you guys!!!

Elliot for someone like me who loves stockman's that is just beautiful!
I love the little bit of file work on the inside liner.
Enjoy.....:)

Very well executed knife! It is a thing of beauty and purpose begging to be used.

Ken, you are truly an artist. That is an amazing piece, great color in the scale mat'l; really well-executed jigging; the inner liner work really sets it apart.

"5 by 5"? I just woke up the mrs. 'cause I laughed out loud. I haven't heard that phrase in quite a while. (Late 80's for me; late Cold War. Yet again ya'll are makin' me feel old.)

thx - cpr

ps - And what's up with this guy Elliott, anyway?? He needs to stop hoggin' all them purty knives for himself. :grumpy: ;)

Everything about that knife is just about perfect but the thing that strikes me most is the use of the small clipblade. That is just so useful, tasteful and unusual.

And some christmus thinking.
About being good or bad.
I will point out for you that you spend a lot of time here in the forums and does a great cotribution to us all here. Doing Good things has a conection to being good and discussing this way it makes you a good gay.....Anyway in my book you deserve to be lucky.....:D

Looks like a keeper... Very Nice rendition, with just enough special touches

Its not like you don't have any other customs, but the timing seems good. You earned it

Now that bone is something else.
Great knife all together as a matter of fact, looks like a great Christmas present to yourself.
