I received my Barren Jack yesterday, and need to snap a pic or two. Firstly, I love almost everything about it. It came with (standard at this point!) RC quality fit, finish, and sharpness. Wickedly sharp, with a nice even, symmetrical grind on the blade. The design is short and a bit stubby in a great way, and I enjoy it an awful lot. The scales, as on others who've posted, are extremely nice and the blue really comes through. So, flawless execution, except for one thing, which at first seemed a slight issue, but has now more or less grown on me in the short time I've gotten to fondle it. To clarify, my example came with a pull somewhere in the 7-8 range, and upon closing, it has some real gator snap! It's a little bit of a surprise since almost all my other RCs generally have a pull right in my Goldilocks range. The design has a couple of things that make this of minor concern. One, the blade sits well down in the body, so you have to use the (excellent) long nail nick, because it's impossible (for me at least) to get purchase on the blade to pinch it open. Secondly, it actually requires you to pay attention when opening it because it seems like it would be easy to get a bit of fingertip meat in the way if you aren't paying attention due to the short, stubby blade.
This aside, everything else about it is fantastic, and I look forward to adding the Red Jigged Bone model to the collection as well!
