Rough Rider & Related Slipjoints

An excellent trio there Blake, I particularly like the Whittler, but the other two look well up for outdoor duty.

Ordered a Mini Copperhead as backup in case I lose mine. really well made small gents knife with decent blade for a small frame, great snap and all on one spring

Thanks, Will

Good choice Will, nice Slim looking folder. I really like the amber bone on these models.

I'm still discovering all the different patterns. Thanks everybody, for posting pics of all the great looking blades.
I'm really enjoying this one.

OK,
I and someone else from this thread were talking about Bark Pearl awhile back....I've tried to find
the post but no luck...Seems it was Burgh?...Anyway,I have a new Bark Pearl,as i was actually guessing
that's what it was called until I got this in maill...I've had few days, just now finding time to display it.
The box has the only description I've seen, other than my own made up version awhile back....

I'll also mention I really like this knife, and miss the swell center whittler I sent to Burgh awhile back.
Oh well,I got rid of one only to gain one....Duh,Huh me.

I picked up a couple of the made in China Buck double-end jacks after seeing R8chel's recent post. The quality is very similar to the best that I've gotten from Rough Rider. The blade steel is advertised as 420HC but I can't distinguish it from the 440A used by Rough Rider. The blades aren't as highly polished. The factory edge was also similar to the edges on RR knives. I sharpened the blades and they took a respectable edge. The covers are cherrywood and well fitted.

AND last night I put one of them through the wash!! It seems to be no worse for the wear. I caught it before it went in the dryer so I hand dried and oiled the covers with lemon oil. Later, I hand buffed the wood with a paste wax. So far the wood hasn't warped. The wood covers actually look a richer now since they originally were untreated.

hey any love for hen & rooster?

Of course, but unlike RR & related knives made in the PRC, they are made in Germany and/or Spain, though they are owned by Frost who has knives made all over the place. I own a H & R Equal Ended Pen Knife, and it is a very high quality knife, even better than RR IMHO, but you pay for that quality..

Does anyone happen to know if Rough Rider makes a single bladed wharncliffe? I've been looking at more expensive ones but I want to make sure I like the pattern first. I've got the sailors knife from them, but that's a little big, and more of a sheepsfoot.

I think that Buck 372 is available on the Buck website, and on that river site we are not allowed to mention.

I really like the looks of that! So if "mother of pearl" is the inside of the shell, I guess this is the outside, but smoothed down to expose the nacre. Very cool. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for these.

afishhunter, I email you.

300bucks tried for years to get Buck to make a USA made 301 without the spey blade. So I was surprised to see this blade combo.

So I was surprised to see this blade combo.

If you're talking about that Buck 372 above, me too. The old USA CC-made Buck #313 Muskrat, (discontinued in 1997), had typical-for-the-frame spey & clip blades. Having a sheepsfoot in that frame is unusual in any brand, at least as far as I've seen. They aren't listed on Buck's site, but can be found floating on the bay.
