Rough Rider & Related Slipjoints

Will, that amber bone baby copperhead is a keeper! Nice looking RR! I like the canoe style that RR does, and I just ordered one in Armor hide bone. I'll post photos when it arrives.

Thank you von and other gents who've commented on the Baby Copperhead:thumbup:

As I stated, it arrived looking tarnished but once cleaned it's a first-class small knife. I enjoy carrying a small Pen type knife at all times, even when having bigger Traditionals or a fixed 'on board' they are useful and I think pretty (no small element in the basic appeal of Traditional style knives).

I've shown this before but...it's the Copperhead's slightly larger kin, the Half Whittler about 3.5" also single-spring but watch out! Soft nails need not apply, this pattern entails a heavy pull :D:eek::cool::D:D

Armor Hide bone Canoe. I really like this one! Nice snap, good fit and finish just like the Painted Desert Acrylic canoe I bought several weeks ago. Now if I could find one of the Moonshiner series canoes!

It's some interesting stuff that Armour Hide Bone, I have 2 RR knives in it both lockbacks.

The fact is, these Mini Barlows are a lot of fun and make e really decent watch-pocket carry, here Armour Hide lockback and Smooth Bone slipjoint version, both very well turned out. I have a Smooth White Bone version en route, unlike these, it has no shield. You get a much better knife than a Peanut in my view, and for peanuts too:D

Thanks GasMan:thumbup: It's well put together and unusual, very thin Clip blades which are satisfyingly sharp. Locks up and opens nicely too.

I couldn't resist getting one after reading so many positive things about fit and finish. Their "improved muskrat" is exceptional, and was laser sharp out of the box:

I love that it has a clip and sheepsfoot blade! Best combination for a two-blade, IMHO.

Nice. Dont think Ive seen that one before.

Quite unusual isn't it? I sent a very similar pattern to r8shell a few months back, but produced in Japan no later than 1970. I don't have a pic of it I'm afraid.

At 4 3/8" this Marbles Jumbo Trapper is a big beast! Decent quality and a lot of steel for your cash

Here you go. :)

While I'm taking pictures: I got this RR Dogbone Jack some time back. Under $10 and comes with a clipped sheath and very shrill whistle!

Thanks R8shell, I had never seen a knife like that before coming across that one! Quite a surprise to see RR doing the same pattern :)

I first saw the Dogbone Jack in this thread, but they weren't available here at the time. Now they are, I bought one for a friend of mine, really nice little knife - and funny - even at the 3 or 4 times that price (as they are here)

Jack, gotta get one of those Dog Bones if only for the whistle,an sheath......Great deal
for sure.....
I think your Japan knife above was a earlier parker,or frost wasn't it?......I've had a couple.

And speaking of Hammer Brand, this is my favorite of their last run from few years ago.....It's almost
identical to the older more expensive Schatt.Morgan, but no where near the price......It's hard to find
one under $20.00 though since their hard to find and such well made too...((That's oil you see all over
the blade)))oil n dust..

Thanks for all the great Knives, and tips,
JD

It does look like a Parker knife, doesn't it? Something about the color and quality of the bone....It doesn't have any markings besides HI-Stainless (dunno what that is) Japan. His usually said Surgical Stainless. It could have been made in the same factory he contracted, very well made and solid feeling.

Both of these, a Boker Plus and a Rough Rider, cost me less than $30 between the two - amazingly well put-together knives that cut like demons! This was my carry yesterday, and the first day in years that I've gone entirely without a modern folder.

Me, too. I pulled out the Dog Bone to take a picture, and figured I'd carry it today. The sheath has a pocket clip, so I replaced my modern with it.

That Boker is striking, Comeuppance.

Which model name/number?

The box reads 01BO201 - that may or may not be it, as I bought it second-hand from someone who was unloading a large collection that contained many similar knives... so they may have mixed up boxes.
