Those RR's are good looking . How are they at holding an edge?
I use a Colt for whittling and after reprofiling the blades much thinner (whatever the lowest setting on the Lanskey is) I only need to strop after I'm done to keep them shaving sharp.

This little Loveless style fixed blade batoned through a coconut and then sliced up a mango just now. I was going to use a filet knife for the mango but the RR was just sitting there.

Their fixed blades might be contracted to someone else for manufacturing vs their pocket knives.

This same knife was used to dig out grout and tile for both my kitchen and bathroom updates with no deformation as you can see.

Thanks guys ! :cool::thumbup:

I've been looking for a two blade jack by RR. I have lots of barlows and love them, but just a bit small for me for EDC. I tried that mountain knife shop and used their search (which basically is pretty bad IMHO) and found a RR copperhead in amber bone that I could modify the skinner blade. I got it home and have no use at all for a skinner blade, so - reground the skinner into a slightly longer than normal pen blade. It's the knife I've been looking for. Caution - can't do this with all the RR copperheads as most have the nail nick too far forward on the blade. Now mine has a nice clip blade and a large pen blade - perfect! Also caution on regrinding these; the skinner blade is very thin at the tip and could be easily burrned; go slow and cool in water often. If it doesn't exist - make/modify it.

Later found a Frost copperhead with a wharncliffe and a clip, but I'm just not a fan of Frost knives (not trolling for an argument about merits of Frost vs RR). Just my preference is RR.

Thanks, ed. I really like that fluorescent green color in the daylight. That may actually be a knife that I wouldn't lose on my workbench or if I drop it out of a deerstand at dusk.

So I received my RR pink Sowbelly today and I am thoroughly impressed for a $9.99 knife. It's got just a tad bit of blade rub on the main clip blade from the tip of the sheepsfoot blade, but other than that it's pretty much flawless. I may buff out the bone some day to make it a bit shiny, but I'm extremely satisfied at this point.
I'll post a picture tomorrow.

I'm really temped to try a RR, I wonder how well they hold up over time?

If you use it for "knifey" things, and not as a prybar or hammer, they should last as long as a Case, or Buck?
I expect mine will outlast me, and possibly my God Son's kids. (God Son is 9. He gets the knives when I leave this rock)

I have a picture outside and another when I took it back in the house. It is a RR1427.

Crap! Just stop it already people. I'm broke, and have to pay the rest of my daughter's wedding that's happening tomorrow.

Will be adding this one to my growing shopping cart list tonight. Will play dumb tomorrow because it won't look like an act then. I'm already worn out and mentally fried. Hope the other kids don't tax me (wedding wise) as much as this one when their time comes. And my Daughter has made it very clear that I'm not to even think about knives (or anything related) as gifts of any kind related to the wedding. [emoji56][emoji23][emoji322]

Totally love RR's/Colt's. The best price/value combination available imho. Fun way to try out a dozen (or three) traditionals at low cost. Sorry to see the Colt line disappearing. Hope it's not the end.

Can't just post without a pic. Almost did, sorry. Since there is so much pr press about political correctness, I thought I'd add a pic of a few RR's of color. [emoji56][emoji12]

Only reason I added the fixed, is because I really like the color of those curls in the wood.

I wouldn't suggest a belt sander, is it the blade edges that need bevels and edges set?
Or is it the edges of the handles?

although the one thing I did take to a belt sander, well the Ken Onion WorkSharp, was to grind down the kick on the sheepsfoot blade so it sank lower into the frame, also I modified that spey into a pen blade, but I like having the sheepsfoot not being up so high any more.

No, I'm not interested in grinding the blades or anything. I'm talking about smoothing out the contours of the handle and bolsters, kind of like a Tony Bose Case knife.

I have noticed that some RR's and other brands, (even some Case knives), have a sharp edge to the handles, which I think is what you are talking about. If you had a bench grinder with a cloth buffing wheel that would be the way to go, (creating pocket wear so to speak). That is how the manufacturers simulate pocket wear, a buffing wheel and some extra abrasive rouge. I have actually taken the back of the blade on another knife and carefully scraped the edges on a knife with sharp edges before, and if you are careful that works. If you know anyone with a buffing wheel that would be the best way to proceed.

I'm going to try a RR,Colt or just maybe both. :) Thanks guys for all the info on these knives.
