Wow! Pretty detailed review..Okay... I received the RRR001 one arm yesterday.
Here are my gripes:
Slight slight recurve.
The grind is thick behind the edge. Similar to most Queen D2's i've experienced. It is sharper than any queen i got before.
The shield is not pinned.
The micarta is polished smooth. Looks fantastic but doesn't have that fuzzy feel i like with micarta handles.
The lanyard hole is tiny! heh.. you'll probably have to pull the core out of paracord to make it work. And would prefer there be none.
Here are the highlights:
Very very clean. I've gotten dirty production knives by all the worlds brands. This is the cleanest out of box i've ever received.
It's big. slightly larger than a #86. But thinner being single spring, obviously.
Its very well made. No sunken pins. smooth transitions. The inlay cut out is precise, no gaps at all between the shield and cover material. The threaded bolsters on mine are very even and matching. No gaps in the backspring.
The blade is perfectly centered, and rides on either washers or it's a bushing pivot, i can't tell with my eyes. But the action is butter.
The spine of the blade is perfect in line with the spine of the handle (ie backspring). (unlike almost every queen and case i get).
Uses a kick to stop the blade, not a stop pin like the italian brands have been doing. (i'd rather a stop pin, but that's just me, i know you guys like the kick better).
backspring is flush closed, slightly proud at half stop, flush open.
The easy open notch.... its excellent, and very functional with the one-arm notch. honestly, it makes it easier to catch your pants seam.
The blade shape is done well. The very long swedge on the top is attractive, and is why the easy open notch is necessary. Without a notch, i wouldnt' be able to pinch it open, and since there's no nail nick, yeah the notch is necessary. But that means the swedge can be there. and its very handsome in person.
TLDR; Overall impressions
if you handed me this knife without the tang etches, i would say its made by GEC and then get excited seeing GEC starting to use pivot washers and stopped using riveted pins on their handles. And then i'd get excited to see a GEC blade made of D2. Then i'd ask which custom maker its from because GEC won't ever do those three things. And then I'd get blown away hearing it cost only $40. And then when told it's a Rough Ryder i'd say "SHUT. UP!". Seriously... It's that well done.

Imagine if they made a one blade barlow the size of that one arm..
... HE SAYS WITH AN EXQUISITE #74 STAG IN THE BACK GROUND...There’s not a lot I can say that hasn’t already been said. For $40 this is a good knife.
