Rough Ryder Reserve: New Premium Rough Ryder Line

I got the little canoe like RRR 002 yesterday..... It is really quite an interesting traditional knife.... Absent are the nuances of it being hand built by visored workers hunched over their work stations...... It looks very state of the art and exudes CNC and laser machining......

There are no gigs often mentioned in the forums... I.e. gaps, rubs, lazy snaps, poor grinds, centering, etc, etc....
It is a very well manufactured knife akin to some Italian knives that are tradiionals...

Main blade behind edge .027 inch.... Secondary behind edge .022 inch.... I am lousy at estimating pulls but I'd say 5 to 6....
It has axial thrust washers on the pivots; probably phos bronze..... Everything is tidy and well built.....

I don't bring much to the table in so far as design critique.... I like it alot; I also like the ZT 0055.....But I know others don't like the design..... But the manufacturing is hitting on all 8 cylinders... 20201106_125700.jpg
 
If it’s any consolation, FedEx says mine should arrive today but only shows that it left Nashville early this morning

I got the kayak and the one arm, fit and finish is very good. The kayak is very wide but feels good and sturdy in hand and has great action. The one arm also has good f&f and w&t but the only downside is the blade hits the backspring and put a big dent in the cutting edge. Hopefully it will sharpen out after a few sharpenings. I will add pics later.

I just got my one arm jack in and I am happy with it.
The design is pretty good, the only thing I would omit is the lanyard hole.

Walk and talk is about as good as it gets.
The finish isn’t the best as mine has some scratches on shield and a little micarta burr on back spring, but this doesn’t bother me as I could fix these things right up in less than 10 minutes.

I could see others be bothered by this though.
For 40 bucks I think this is a winner.

Now I have yet to sharpen the blade but the grinds are even and since these are D2 they should take a good edge.

Lol, I don't know what the USPS is doing, Fayetteville is 68 miles away from me yet it has been "in transit" from Fayetteville going on 4 days now lol. According to Google maps it takes 22 hours to walk that distance, they coulda handed it to an employee and they coulda walked here and back by now :eek:
Oh well it come when it comes:rolleyes:

Mate, don't stress, it arrives when it arrives, all will be fine trust me.:rolleyes: Look at it from another perspective, Mine,;) I have had to wait 2 months to get my last knife from the good old US of A, try that one, having a GEC which you know how hard to get they are, in the hands of the worlds postal services. Now that's stress.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D. Challenging times to be sure, but things are starting to look up.
 
Clownsinc hasn't chimed in yet! I’m seriously thinking he was just a shill for SMKW. That would upset me if SMKW was clandestinely using the forums to drum up business.
 
FedEx actually delivered the package today, strange that it was supposed to be handed over to the USPS for delivery, not complaining:)
Kayak and Whittler are both very well built and as usual all the blades could stand to go on a diet as far as edge thickness is concerned. I will get some images up but both look like the ones in the SMKW YouTube video release announcement, no surprises.

I think my big issue is this...
RR had some troubles with Quality Control on their traditional designs.
Now that they are addressing these quality issues they are producing funky modern-ish designs.
I think they would have been better off, at least for me, at producing quality made traditional designs at a good price.
