Rough Ryder Reserve: New Premium Rough Ryder Line

I really, really want to give one of these a try... But the patterns don't interest me too much. That One Arm Jack looks fantastic! I really would have preferred a spear, clip, sheepsfoot... Really anything but a one arm. The Large Balloon Whittler doesn't really do anything for me (same with Coffin Jacks).

I'm a bit on the fence about the Canoe though. That wharncliffe looks great. Hmmm...

I tried the whittler but had to send it back. My main blade had a dent in the edge that matched one on the pen blade's spine. Bummer. It wasn't nice enough of a knife to play the exchange through the mail game. Glad to hear guys are happy with theirs. I will stay in the sub $20 range until I can see and handle the knife in person. I still trust Case and GEC via online.

I bought all three RRR knives as soon as they were finally available to buy and was not disappointed. The Swell Center Whittler is what first got my attention in this series, but wanted to try out the other two because they were so different.

Was hoping the fourth (the barback) would be released soon too, but it was apparently pushed back to the the second group of knives for this line.

Agree with the sheath idea. With they would include one like they did with the Carnivore Jack.

Any information on that 4th one?

whats the bar back? Can you tell us about it, or where you heard about it?

The Barback I think was Andy's (Guys Talk Knives Podcast) idea. He showed it briefly on a recent episode. Think it is a blade and an extra device where you can open your beer. Will have to watch it again to see more on it.

The video referenced is "guys talk knives 154" They talk about the RRRs starting about 17:45

Yes, they are a limited run in a way. They say the limited part is based on the configuration of the materials, not the whole knife models. For example, if they make another Easy Open Razor, it will not be in jean micarta with a D2 blade.

The last thing on the Barback, it is two blades with one of the blades being able to open a beer bottle etc without being open. Hence, the name. Kind of gimmicky, but I like the blade shape on that one.

Eh...thats a hard pass on the barback. Not only do I find it ugly as a mud fence, I absolutely hate "finger choils". Especially on a sub 4 inch blade they make about as much sense as wiping your butt BEFORE you crap. I've always felt that if you need to "choke up" on a blade your using the wrong knife for the task. I mean historically knives have had handles for a reason, you hold the handle NOT the bladeo_O I like big folders but that thing looks clunky as a brick,I couldn't imagine carrying that in my pocket. Hopefully the rest of this series is more in line with the EO and whittler
