Rumor of happenings between Ontario and RAT Cutlery

Hey fellow RC lovers!

Do what you have to, but think about this:

1.) Listen to Jeff's wishes; don't boycot Ontario.

Guys, I had to post up again to say this. Don't quit buying Ontario products. They are a good American company and they do have some very good products, including the Ontario RAT line that has our name on it. The employees there are good people. The last thing I want to see happen is another American made manufacturer go down the tubes...honestly. Also remember that Nick only said he would have the lawyers send the papers, so we haven't been officially served or sued yet. All I'm saying is the last thing Mike or I want is any type of a boycott on Ontario products especially when they're one of the best bangs for the buck out there.
Jeff

2.) I have to quote Dylside! I'd do this in an instant! Great out of the box thinking.

I had a funny idea. We could all donate our Ontario RAT knives to Mike and Jeff to sell at a discount to help with their fees. hahaha. Wouldn't that be great for Ontario to find out that their products were helping the side of good? :D

3.) Think about the knifemakers at Ontario! A boycot wouldn't help them, would it? I not an american, but I love to see how proud you are about american products.
help me out here: if the stockholders are Nicks' concern, then THEY are the people to talk to. Does anyone live near the Ontario HQ? Let's sponsor him to buy one share of Ontario and let him speak at Ontario's stockholders' meeting on RC's behalf!

4.) Lets' support RC and not trash Ontario. Think constructive to support Jeff and Mike.

Good thinking. It's more important ot communicate with Ontario than to start with economic pressure. As businessmen, they can understand the eventual value of a broad-based campaign in support of RAT against their bottom line.

Keep the emails going and keep them businesslike and professional. Avoid hyperbolic threats and insults. Stress your loyalty to Ontario itself and willingness to go back to supporting them also as a great American company.

well said esav.

Good post! But please don't send us any knives. Use them puppies!

And to further what you said, the workers at Ontario are good, hard working people. Again, we are not trying to gut or bleed anyone here. No one in this industry can say that Mike or Jeff has ever tried to destroy anyone in this industry. We do all we can to bring more manufacturers and makers into it. Our most recent addition is helping Point Blank Cutlery (a new company) get started. Sergio is good people! There are many others and some of you reading these posts know who they are. We are working right now to help yet anther new company get off the ground and they will eventually be competitors (if you must call it that) to us in the tactical market. They are known in the firearms industry and they will soon be known in the knife industry for first rate tactical cutlery.

We want to be left alone to be in business as we see fit and to own our own property, intellectual or otherwise. We truly wish Ontario success in their endeavors to pursue their own ideas, designs, property, etc. We would like to have the same respect in return.

Jeff

Sergio IS good people. I just sent him a bunch of sheaths. I'm glad you're working with him!

As a side note to my post above, I also want to say that every company we have helped get into this industry we have done it for no charge, no part of their business, no royalty, cut, or anything else. Is it just because we're nice guys? No. The one thing that I'm an expert at is networking the right people together to build a project. Our motives are simple: Many folks don't know how to go about taking an idea to production. We do. The more small knife companies we can get on their feet, the more American knives are going back into the market. Our campaign is solely in it for the American worker and personal profit. Now, if you feel you want to try this then understand you have to be willing to work 20 hours a day, suck down several bottles of Rolaids a week, be able to think for yourself instead of using other people's ideas, take a gamble and then enjoy every minute of it. Lastly, once you're rolling then be ready to compete with us while remaining friends. We have no guilty conscience about fairly kicking your butt in the marketplace :D

very, very, very well put.

I've got a RAT-7 that I like a lot. I'm dissapointed in Ontario though. I hope it all gets resolved quickly.

One could do a lot worse than backing a company who understood Atlas Shrugged.:thumbup::thumbup::cool:

Good idea
My buddy works for Chevron/Texaco and says every year at the shareholders meeting someone gets up and speaks/protests about some Venezuelan oil spill like 10 years ago...

riffraff,

Love your Warren Zevon sig line. On Outdoor Forums my signature has been "Long Live Warren Zevon" for a long time now. Even though Zevon was abut as liberal as they come, he was a hero of mine for doing his own thing and thumbing his nose at those that told him he couldn't. He was, as the album cover says, "Genius" both in his lyrics and way of life. He is truly missed.

Which leads me to another Ayn Rand quote that went something like "the question is not who will let me, but who's going to stop me."

I have never bought anything from Ontario, in the past when I have bought military type knives they had been from Camillus or Ka-Bar. Since I started reading this forum I have been considering a Rat-3 in 1095, now I will wait to see how everything comes out.

You'd rather have the RAT Cutlery RC3 anyways! :D Having both, I assure you that its the better of the two - without a doubt.

I have been away for a few days, just re-read the post wow ,look at all the support...you would think with a good lawyer and all the pre-Ontario days data that came be found just via the internet the lawsuit is without merit !

VERY NICELY PUT!!!

As soon as the RC4 is available, i am on it!

brett

Bret I just ordered a RC4 from knives ship free they have a few avaliable.
I just can't get Atlas Shrugg read for some reason, I still keep trying .

mkhop,

Force yourself to get past the first 1/3 of the book and you'll be ok. Any Rand wrote way too detailed for most folks to easily read her work. The whole book is brilliant. Some of Francisco's and Galt's long winded diatribes are well worth the price of admission to get to that point.

"The world will change when you are ready to pronounce this oath: I swear by my Life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for the sake of mine." - John Galt

Oh, hell...just click here and read this condensed version of Galt's speech: http://www.working-minds.com/galtmini.htm
