S30V Folding Kalinga Pro

I am surprised they discontinued this model? It is a very cool folder for the price especially with S30V steel. Maybe they couldn't make a decent profit on it??? Anyways, it may quickly be turning into a little "collectors item".

Congrats Beacher on your knife. I think you'll find it a nice addition to your skinning kit.

Oregon....nice pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, thanks guys. I had pretty much forgotten about these until this thread reappeared. I found a seller this evening (not eBay) that supposedly had some still in stock and ordered two more. I suppose I'll find out Monday or so if they really do have them or not, depending on whether or not they refund my payment. I did find several knives in their listings that were still there, but said "out of stock" or "no longer available" but the 419's didn't say that, so maybe.

Thank you kindly Flatlander.

I was trying to show the ergonomics of this fine piece of cutlery are those of the squeezed handful of clay the handle fits my hand so well. And yet it appeals to my eye in its graceful rosewood, hardened super steel and thick shiny brass robustness. The liner cutouts bring the Kalinga's weight down to 7.33 ounces (compared to a modern FG 110 @ 7.16 ounces = Kalinga is a mere 0.17 ounce heavier).

And then there's the PB washers, ouhhh la la:

One of my two was mailed to me today, the other is backordered, but will ship asap. It's possible that the dealer may get it today and ship tomorrow.

You guys may want to pull the scales off your folders and lightly sand the backsides, and then give them a good couple of coats of tru oil.

While you are at it, take the brasso to the frame. Make it more purty..:D

Packrat,

How do you get those small scratches out?

Brasso, and elbow grease. or finger grease and an old terry cloth rag. For some reason wife has an aversion to using the good ones.

oh yeah,,, being a little obsessive compulsive helps some...
