S30V Folding Kalinga Pro

We know......you just get it started with a bid of a dollar or two over the starter and then you come in with the big money in the last five seconds.

:)

It finally went for $86. plus $8. shipping. A bit more than I last paid for them. I think we're looking at the last of the sub-$100. deals (shipped). As soon as everyone figures out that they have been discontinued.... $^ .

I total forgot I bid on that knife. I really don't need another but....

I got my Rosie Kalinga Pro folder in the mail yesterday and my fixed blade is on its way. There are still some available where people have not jacked the price up yet. The folder is extremely well finished the S30V is a great steel, I have used it quite extensively with my Leatherman Charge TTI.
The only little quibble I had with the Rosie folder is the liner lock. When I open the blade I have to be a little bit paranoid and check that the liner lock has actually moved into the correct position. If it is opened slowly you hear a click but the liner lock is not far enough over and you have to push the button more firmly to properly engage the lock. Similarly when you go to close the blade you have to push the liner lock over a fair bit to make sure that it doesn’t rub against the blade. Just a matter of getting used to the knife I think, if you keep it in mind and open the knife with a bit of authority it behaves itself. I will get it trained.
Waiting for the postman to cough up my fixed blade seems to take forever (Every International parcel gets opened by Customs in Australia – So be warned – If you are in Australia read the knife laws carefully (They vary between different states) and if unsure phone the customs and confirm beforehand)

One of mine had similar behavior at first. A couple drops of very light oil and a slight flick of the wrist when opening was all it needed. Closing wasn't a problem.

Got the package yesterday, slow in coming this time. I watched the tracking number as it moved. Went from New Graham up and over the Canadian boarder fast, but once on the Canadian postal system it moved slower than mollasses in January. Heck it was January when I ordered.

Anyways, fit and finish is good, on closer view the blade is slightly wider than the one I bought a year ago, and the blade finish is more of a satin machine finish when compared to the older Kalinga that is more of a mirror finish. Very nice knives in any case.

One will go into the bank vault as a safe queen for later use or investment. The other I will leave with family that I visit frequently, so that I can reduce my risk of loss during air travel. The older one will stay on my belt for EDC.

I am trying to find a 419 ... if anyone knows where please let me know. There are a couple on the Bay but they are "up there". So far, all my googling on line hasn't found a NOS either. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would post a "Want to Buy" on the Sale thread.
I shipped my spare off to Russia to a fellow Buckeroo. Last I saw, it was covered in moose blood. :)

Wow, the supply has pretty much dried up.

And the prices!!!

Glad I bought five a year ago.

:D

Darn.....now I have the Non-Buyer's remorse that I wish I'd have bought more!!!

(Sigh.)

I've carried one some. Nice to whip it out in a steakhouse where they have dull knives. Impressive......and it sure cuts nice.

Mostly carrying the Four-Dot 112 lately though.

Maybe I better polish up that 419 nice and put it back in its box.

Well the truth is ..... I wish you HAD bought more ... then there might be one available for me now.

Makes Flatlander look all the more like the fine and generous fella he is, doesn't it?

:)

Thanks Edge!!

Yes Moose Blood...here we go, my old Kalinga at work on a Russian moose. Pretty cool I think. Garryale/Igor is a big fan of S30V and serious hunter. I was excited to hear how the Kalinga performed on truly big game. Very well it would seem but it looks pretty clean. The ErgoHunter may have done all the work.

I picked up one from SMKW last month during their "Cyber Monday" sale for less than $90 delivered.
